Water shield ideas for speaker install?

I recently replaced the stock 5x7s in the front door with 6.5 in speakers. I was wondering if anyone has ideas on how to make water shields so water in the door panel won't ruin the speakers?

Thanks!

You can use some heavy mil plastic bag material (lg freezer bag, etc.) to make "hoods" over the rear of the speaker. Cover the top half past the magnet and leave the bottom exposed. Has worked perfectly for my BA Rally's in my truck for over 10 years.

But the easiest method is to take a tupperware or glad-ware container and cut it to fit like a hood.

I like this idea but wont that rattle? How do you keep it from falling off or rattling once they are in place?

Well, you can typically screw into them while putting the speaker in, and they'll stay put. Resonance could be controlled by coating them with sound dampening material or maybe undercoating spray. I've never had to use them since I use speakers that aren't paper, and I live in a flippin' desert.

You could buy the speaker baffles from Crutchfield. They're not expensive, but you'll need to cut a hole out of the bottom so your 6.5's will have enough airspace for mid-bass response.
