2007 Mazda5 heated seats

What's up everybody. I'm new to the forum and have a question regarding the heated seats on my 2007 Mazda5 GT. They don't seem to work. I just picked it up from the dealer and they said everything was working and that it doesn't heat up unless the ambient temperature is really cold. Is this true? We live in TX where it only gets cold a few days at a time. The heated seats on my 2003 CL turns on and heats up no matter what the temperature is outside. Thanks.

Sounds like BS to me. The sensors/wiring needed to make the seat know what the ambient temp is falls outside the price class of the vehicle. I imagine one of our parts gurus such as Benfolio would know for certain.

actually there may be some truth to that, I noticed our heated seats do vary based on temps somewhat. On cold days it heats right up then tapers off so I wonder if its more cabin temp than ambient. Whereas my mom's audi will flat cook you out if you wanted

Well I just got the service manual from this site and looked at the wiring diagram for the seat warmers. It is not connected to the ambient temperature sensor like the service advisor told me. The car is great, but the service from the dealership is really lacking. I can understand the seats heating up and tapering off as stated above, but these don't even heat up at all.

It's a problem....go back and make them understand you will not leave until it is repaired.

ok dont slap me but there is a light on the switch.... when the seat heat is on it illuminates.. does it?

well we've been using ours a lot lately since its been in the 20's here in Idaho... I will say they get pretty dang hot in the mornings, then after running errands throughout the day they seem to barely warm. They definitely seem to taper with respect to the cabin temp, but that could be a multitude of things creating that sensation... simply getting used to them or they have some internal feedback mechanism that tapers them off. I think likely the latter. It seems they taper respective to the seat temp. I'm tellin ya my moms audi would have you sweating bullets unless you actually turned em down or off... so there must be some sort of feedback.... if not through the auto climate than there's one internally and it may/may not show that in the SM.
