Mazdaspeed3 Price OTD

I went to the dealership yesterday and test drove 2 MS3. First one was a completely stock GT and the 2nd one was a sport with MS CAI and Exhaust.

Once I drove the sport, I was sold on this is the car that I will get. Maybe not that exactly one but I want a MS3. I'll probably be purchasing one next summer. A little far away but I want to browse the form and learn as much as I can before the purchase.

I did a search but was unable to find what I was looking for. So my question is... what did everyone pay for their GT or Sport OTD and any option you had added.

Thanks in advance.

I paid $20k for my MS3 GT (every option but nav.) out the door but I got the deal of the century.

Right time and place.

It was an 07 that had been in the show room since it was new and it was the end of the month. It was definitely time for the car to be sold so I stepped in. :)

I put $3k down and got $9k for my Mazdaspeed Protege with 38,097 miles.

No, the price of the car was $20k, then I put what was left of my trade in after pay-off in to that. That plus my $3k down makes my MS3 total debt about +/- $15k. I owed $6k and change on my MSP still. I had it financed for 72 months.

So go in at the end of the month and give a big down payment? Got it!

When buying ANY car you have to have the most leverage on your side versus theirs.

* Go in at the end of the month.
* Have a down payment.
* Be polite.
* Walk away from the first deal unless its exactly what you want (it won't be).
* Have other options available.
* Don't let them spring add-on costs at time of closing. If they do, get up and leave.
* Give yourself a lot of time to hang around the dealer.

wait...was there something wrong with your msp? i just checked kbb, and it says the tradein value for a 2003 msp was $12k+...

Not calling BS or anything but come on... how in the hell did you buy a car that stickers for $25k (and invoices for about $23k) for $20k??? (OTD no less! which means, with tax and fees, you really bought the car for... I don't know... $4.5k off invoice???) It's not like you live in... Alaska or something! It doesn't take a rocket scientist to realize that a fwd performance car with stock summer tires sells a hell of a lot easier in warmer climates. I gotta believe MS3s fly off the lot down in FL... so that truly IS the deal of the century. If this is true... you're either the world's best negotiator or that dealership is run by a bunch of speds.

Anyway, no offense or anything but... this thread is rather useless I mean, there are simply too many variables at play here. If you were interested in what people paid BEFORE tax and all the other fees that's one thing. But the fees vary by dealership and the tax obviously varies by state.

As far as his MSP goes... this may be how he was able to get the MS3 for so cheap. Granted, MSPs don't exactly have the best resale value in the world but with the low mileage his had... he probably could have gotten at least $12k if he sold it himself. Based on my research and experience, that dealership will try and sell the car for around $13-14k... maybe more. While it seems like a lot to many of us (after all, many of us bought ours new for $17k!) there's a sucker for every deal... and to someone who doesn't know any better, $14k for a car like this seems like a pretty good deal.

There was like 6 08 MS3s still on the lot and they still had an 07, I don't see how its so unbelievable.

If you can find a person who will pay for $12k for a MSP in Orlando you have found the biggest sucker in the WORLD. I was happy to get $9k for my MSP, and that was after I had to haggle up from their initial offer of $8000. My MSP had very questionable paint too due to people parking too close to me and dinging the hell out of my doors.

Here's the Edmunds listing for my zip code:

I also have a good relationship with the dealer before hand, I bought my MSP there and I've had a hand in the car events the dealer has thrown. I've invested a lot of my time to get that deal, damn it! :)

I got my for 24k gt with navi private seller 9k miles mint + condition. but then again, I am in Cali when everything is more expansive. cheapest I found from any stealership within 50 miles was 23 for a GT with higher milage, no navi.

You don't see how buying a car for $4k off invoice is unbelievable? lol

seriously, so that we can set the matter straight... what was the final negotiated price of the MS3 (before tax, title, conveyance, etc.)

Even though it was an 07... it's still 'new'. Unless it was a manager special, there's no real reason to knock off anything more than 500 or so. Especially when there's no difference between the 07 and 08. I mean, if this was... I don't know, a leftover SC Cobalt SS and the dealership had a bunch of new TC Cobalts... that would be a different story.

As far as someone being crazy to spend $12k on an MSP with... what did you say? 40k miles? Not knowing the condition of yours, I'd say you're crazy to think that. Let's say you're... just out of HS and are finally making a decent buck. Your budget's in the 10-14k range. Hmm... those kia's sure do look tempting but a car like the MSP just might get your vote.

Again, without knowing how badly your car was beat up, I'd say $12k for an MSP in at least good condition (with such little mileage) is more than reasonable. Obviously the dealership you traded it into is going to look to make some money. (they're already in the hole $4k!) so, if you're interested, pay attention to what they list your car for. Having followed MSPs sale prices at various dealerships along the east coast, I wouldn't be shocked if they price it at $14,999 to start. Used cars, just like new, are always priced higher than what they'll eventually sell for. Dealerships like... maybe we'll get a sucker. Worst case scenario, they'll think they got a deal.

In the end... sorry to say but... without your trade, there's no way in hell you're buying a car for anything significantly less than invoice.

i got my GT with Nav for 24571 before tax tag and title

that included the doc fee.

out the door price was 26051

When I bought my car, the original owner told me that his car had every option except the navigation (I of course didn't believe him). It turned out that he didn't have a single option.
... Oh, I paid $19,600 for an '07 GT with 15k miles. I thought it was a good deal.

The invoice price of every option except navigation adds up to over $1000.

Re: $20,000 for a brand new GT: Dealers get incentives to reach certain sales goals occasionally. I have no idea how much those incentives are worth ($10,000 maybe? $20,000? $2,000?), but it seems feasible that if a dealer somehow only needed to sell 1 more car before the end of the day to get a $15,000 bonus they might discount $5,000. A dealer letting themselves get to the very last hour of the very last day seems unlikely, but anythings possible I guess.

Have you carfaxed your own car pluto316?

I know it will all vary from state to state but this will be my first brand new car purchase (I've always had used car from private parties) and I just want to get an idea of where everyone is getting it at. I was talking to the sales guy and he wanted $27,200 OTD. So thanks for all those that has responded with the price they got it at.

Chico you need to chill. I almost traded the ol' DX in not long ago for a 07 MS3 and could of had it for 21.5 out the door. Down in Orlando (where I just moved from) it's nearly impossible to get what a MSP is worth due to it's ridiculous over-saturation. Moreover, you are also talking about a dealership that has several '07s sitting on the lot, how many MS3's have you ever seen sitting in one place? The most I've ever seen was 2, this place has several.

Trust me, what Will got for his MSP was great considering his paint was fragged.

...
Was it a GT with every option except the GPS though? A Sport for only $600 over invoice is a lot more believable than a GT for $3500 under.

i got my 07 in june for 24 otd msrp was 26.5 from what i gathered it was at the time when you were lucky to pay msrp. GT fully loaded with nav sirrius and a couple of goodies got a discount on CAI as well. pluto what month did you buy your car you indicated they had a couple of 08 out.

that explains a lot...=D there's no chance in hell for a random walk-in customer to get that deal, since that's just not making them any money. when i went shopping for my car, i got invoice ($23.7k) on my 2007 GT (go ford s-plan!) and kbb on my civic trade in, but i knew they were still making money off of me due to ford-paid commission (s-plan) and resale of my trade-in. with your deal, it actually looks like they will likely not break even, but if you had an insider relationship with the dealership, that would be the one thing that would have modivated them to sell at a loss just to get rid of the 2007.
