First I ran a 14.9 with a 2.1 60 ft at like 88 mph and I was revving til about 6700 rpm. Then my 2nd run I turned off the DSC and shifted at 6000 rpm and I've been feathering the clutch in at about 5200ish rpm for both runs. My 2nd run was a 14.6 @ 89 mph with a 1.9 60 ft. Can anybody tell me what Im doing right or wrong? I need to know if I need the DSC off, and possibly how to launch. Whats a normal 60 ft? And what 1/4 should I be running basically stock? And should I shift just within my power band or just rev the s*** out of it?

Sounds like your car is ****** up. It's too slow unless it was super hot or your altitude is super high.

Why the hell did you rev till 6700? That's way past where these sleds make power. Furthermore, I can't believe you een need to ask if you should have DSC off when you run @ the track. Oi vey!

It is very interesting to me that you reached 105 mph and only ran a 13.294. You are more than .3 under my best 1/8 ET and about 2 mph slower. It interests me to think I could find a speed greater than 105 mph on the 1/4. I can only wonder......(RTM)

Thats the fishiest timeslip I've ever seen. With a 2.1 60ft time, my best time was something like 13.9 at 98mph.

It's one thing to not remember exactly right, but whats the point in posting fake slips?

Heres mine... MY NAME IS ON IT! It was my loss against an srt4 that didnt think he needed nitrous until halfway down the track and I guess he had an "oh sh*t" moment. I feel bad for stealing this thread....

ebranch what type of setup are u running? and weather conditions and altitude could play a factor in me and u having different times evenr though are 60ft are the same. but when i hit the 12s just like MS6mike and a few others on the stock turbo ill post that timeslip up too.

my altitude is 1320 feet, and the mazda forums are so terrible to navigate and search with I dont know s*** about these cars still.
So what should I be shifting at? 5500 or 6000? 6200?

This is also my first AWD car, Im trying to launch it right, and there was a MS6 running there also, and he runs consistant 15.2xS with the same Mph as me, so I didnt think since Ive ran nothing but 14's not bad so far. and his car has alot more mods then mine (a fabbed intake all I got) so I dont know if just my bad track or something, but I think next time Im there I will do alot better.

Try feathering the clutch around 4500 for launch. The power starts to drop off around 6k for me.

You are getting 1.9 60 foots. While that is by no means the greatest, it isnt terribly bad either. So the 60 foot is not your problem.

Your biggest problem is your insanely low trap speed. I say your altitute is playing a huge role in that low number. Also, empty your gas tank, and get some Sunoco gas, Chevron or some other reputible gas and try again. It may have been watered down, or a lesser grade that they sold you. And again, work on your shift points. I got a 2.4 60 foot once (first time at dragstrip, forgot to turn off DSC) and I still got like a 95 trap speed. Fix your shifting.

Sounds like the power is really weak for some reason. Hopefully it's the break in thing, but i kind of doubt it.

I usally get octane 93 from BP which from around here is the best gas you can get and race gas is a little hard to come by around here, there isnt many 'reputable' companys around here, no chevron or anything, no mobil and only 3 stations around here even carry 93. Pretty lame...and yea the other MS6 guys trap speeds were the same as mine (but him running 15.2)...I may haft use a calculator to see if this is normal at my elevation...

imo the car actually shifts better and smoother when I powershift it rather than just shifting fast while lifting off the gas.

I've had my MS6 for a week now. After about two days i started powershfiting because regular fast shifting i thought was too notchy and let me tell you the powershfting i think made a huge difference. Everytime I powershift the car just jumps forward with more momentum.

I gotta go to the track to see what I can do. I had an EVO running 11.9 @114 with a 1.60 60 so i am really curious to see what this MS6 will do.

try a short throw, it will help you maintain that momentum you speak of

went to the track today and did 4 runs, this was my first time ever at the track, so i could have done better. first one was embarrassing as hell, missed second and third then gave up ran a 23.3739 with 57.74mph (real bad). also forogt to turn dsc off.
2nd run - 15.7893 at 95.00mph with 2.76 60' time still sucks, dsc was off.
3rd run - 14.9155 at 98.08mph with 2.3774 60' time, forgot about dsc again.
4th run - 14.5114 at 98.34mph with 2.1103 60' time, dsc was off

My 60' times weren't great and my tires were definately slipping off the line. Any tips or hits? My mods are Fujita intake and 1g dsm bpv. oh and i was shifting around 6k rpms

Read post number 2. It answers all your questions.

i must have smoked my clutch pretty bad the first run because it still smells 7 hours later.

hints. with only a intake, you should be shifting at 5k. trust me, find a spot where you can clock yourself. pointA to pointB, and watch your trap speeds on two runs. shift at 6k like you have been, then shift at 5k at the latest maybe even 4600 or 4800 cuz power drops fast without a DP.

i did that same thing when all i had was fujita and catback. i used to shift 5500, and i ran it shifting 4500 and my trap speed improved 10mph. so try it, you'll be glad. and its not so hard on your motor or gas!
