Went to a dealership to talk numbers, on their "invoice" sheet they had a $350 Washington DC, Assesment fee. My brother and I both called him out on it but they continued to feed me bs. I am %99 percent positive this is a BS fee, but the sales guy swears up and down that this fee has been there since he started which was a year ago. Anyone else aware of this fee?

Thats BS, there is no such thing, i bought 2 cars from the dealer in the past 6 month ,and there is no such thing, but some dealer do charge you processing fee.and that depend on the dealer. usually if you finance through the dealer, they might charge you processing fee or admin fee, but if u pay cash or check like i do. u control everything

In Florida, dealer calls the BS fee a "Market Adjustment Fee" for $1,495. I laughted and ask what are you trying to do to me? I said don't offend me by even thinking about trying to get me to pay that fee. The delaer never mentioned it again.

I'd go to another dealer also.. in VA there is usually a "processing fee" of about 200 or 300 bucks.. I went to Marlow Heights in Maryland to get my p5.

I have heard of this but do not pay it...go elsewhere and save the $300 and just make sure they don't squeak it by in financing!

Ive only seen the $100 fee that usually says "not required by law" I say, if its not required, Im NOT paying ;)

There are only two legit fees when buying a new car:

1) Sales tax
2) Vehicle registration fee

Battle the dealership on all other fees.

I am in G.R. Michigan and I know the Detroit area dealers have a $162 fee on the cars they sell and we do not have it here. It has to do with advertising support from Mazda etc.. I don't know about other areas of the country but I know in Detroit there is such a fee, in G.R. there is not.

I will not pay an "advertising fee". There is a price of doing business. If they want me to advertise for them by putting a nice chrome license plate holder with dealer name OK,

make sure you have them remove the usually gihugic dealership sticker/badge on the back as well....

thanks for the info, i got them to waive it but then during financing they had a inflated money factor and a 595 acquisition fee, so I walked, time to find a new dealer

good work. I should go back and look at my paperwork when I bought my ES. I was uninformed 5 years ago. Good thing the car is paid off now....

One other thing: before demanding that these types of fees be removed from the deal, negotiate their lowest price FIRST.

This will ensure you truly are getting their best deal.

Basically, when you've found their very best deal, ask them to disclose every item in that price. If they list "admin fee, doc fee, etc" kindly ask them to take that off the price.
