I want to know your guys input on the CX-7. Any problems I should warn him about before hand. I heard about the recalls I am sure his car won't have that problem if he gets it from the dealer.

He is really looking at the CX-7 or the Edge and can't choose which one is better.

Well, the Edge is crap, so CX-7 over that for sure.

Most people are very happy with their CX-7's. I think it's very fun to drive and I like the features, but I would never own one again after all of the problems I've had with mine.

I'd suggest looking at the Acura RDX as a possible alternative.

get a GT its worth the few extra $$

I love my cx7 have no probs with it cept the recalls but first year cars have them alot no matter what. I like the 7 it drives like a car I dont like driveing a truck every day and the edge drives like a car twice its size more like a truck and the edge has bad blind spots for someone my size 6 foot +. and what was up with the 3rd head rest in the back seat that blocks almost the entire rear window... very bad visibility in the edge I drove and the little triangle windows in the cx7 up front eliminate the spot in front of the mirrors too.

they both get around 20 mpg but turbos are more fun to drive. if you like driveing a car get the cx7 definately it handles like a car 1/2 its size.

get the GT cx7 the HID headlights are worth every penny dont know if ford even offers them in the edge. the GT gauges are 10x better then the edges set up for my preference. mazda has the triptronic tranny which is fun every one in a while.

ok im done hope my input helped GL with your decision.

Very nice. And about the RDX koala...our neighbor owns a Ford dealership so he told my Dad he would get him a good deal on any Ford. (I envy him because every week hes driving something new from the Mustang Shelby GT to a Lincoln to a Mazda. So this is why he is sticking to one of these manufacturers for his next pic.

I wouldn't take an edge even if it was 10k cheaper than a CX-7.

Re: Edge vs. CX-7, I also cross-shopped both when I bought my CX-7 (as well as the Murano).

The Edge is a different driving experience; it's V6-torquey, smoother riding, has more rear seat room, offers dual-zone climate control, and offers that mongo glass sunroof. I enjoyed spending time in the ones I test-drove.

But I picked my CX-7 for the zoom-zoom factor: it's lighter, more nimble, really liked the styling, and it was quite a bit less expensive than the best deal I was offered on the Edge.

The Murano is just too "eh"(poor driving experience too, terrible CVT), I didn't even consider it, everyone and their mom has a Murano.

The EDGE however is really nice, you get a show stopper, and that big Vista Panel roof, and easy driving, smooth power, and a little more cargo space, as well as rear vents and a more spacious 2nd row.
The CX-7 is sporty, you get the perfect seat height and shifter/steering wheel adjustments, excellent looks, brakes, handing, mid range punch and that boost factor, cheaper to boot.

Depends on what you like(and want) really.

We already have a murano with the cvt v6 so I think he is leaning towards the CX7. I told my Dad to check out the GT package and told him he would be happy with it.

The RDX is butt ugly and overpriced, and sits too low to the ground to compete with the CX-7 and X3(you should get a good hatchback(GTi 5 door) if you think about the RDX, or even something with real luxury and performance like a BMW sedan or Audi A3), for 3K you better be bringing real aluminum inserts, and more soft touch panels, along with better dynamics. Did I mention its repulsive to look at.

Toyota RAV4 is the closest competitor. Good gas mileage and good cargo space, and not so bad a look. But the interior looks cheap. My last Toyota was a Camry. It was so so so boring, and the body panels are like egg shells.

What's good about HID? I have a Touring, and didn't care about the different features on GT. What am I missing?

I test drove an Edge before we bought the CX-7. Its a great car for a Ford vehicle. But there is no CX-7 comparison. The interior of the Edge is nice, but fully loaded its way too expensive compared to the CX-7.

The CX-7 is all zoom-zoom. The Edge felt a lot bigger to me and although i couldn't really hear it, but if you watched the tachometer that engine works really hard to accelerate the car. Its really eager to rev to redline, but it doesn't really feel like its going anywhere. Whereas the CX-7, if it revs, you know where its going.

For me there was no driving experience, it felt bland.

This is what you get going from Touring to Grand Touring:

* GT leather-trimmed interior w/ piano-black accents

* Electroluminescent gauges & indirect blue cabin illumination

* Automatic climate control & exterior temperature thermometer

* Xenon HID auto on/off low-beam headlights w/ manual leveling

* Heated body colored side mirrors

and the real kicker... the difference in price between Touring and Grand touring...... $800 (no that's not a typo)

I would have paid $800 just for the climate control, and here in Wisconsin heated mirrors are great. So it was a no brainer for me to go to the GT.

But to each his own... some don't want the auto climate control.

CX 7 of course....looks better than the Edge, performance is sportier and the price is better. The only "Edge" over the CX 7 is the panoramic roof. Both cars are good choices.... it's a matter of personal preference....

I swapped out my headlights on my civic and the difference is night and day. HiD last about 10 years before burning out maybe longer hda them on my civic for 6 years no probs crashed my car and sold them and they are still in use.

next time U see an escalade on the road or most newer luxury cars they are all standard HID headlights. night visibility and foggy days are greatly improved. do the touring have automatic headlights? the GT does and I love it never have to turn my lights on just set them to auto and leave it.

if he has the Murano CVT V6, i seriously doubt he will like the initial accerlation on the CX7 - but once you get about 15mph, it is fun to drive minus the gas mileage

agree, even though I dont have the CX7 anymore i did test drive the edge and i drove just like my 2006 Ford Taurus - like a boat... so if you ONLY have 2 choices between the edge and the CX7 then the CX7 is a better ride but you do lose a lot of gadgets on the CX7 that you get on the edge... like i dont know the miles per gallon gauge and the miles to empty gauge
