Where is are the security and lock units?

Where under the dash are the security unit and lock unit boxes/brains? Driver's side? Passenger side? Center? Also, if you have seen them, do know if Mazda still puts the pinout diagrams on their labels?

The keyless control module is under the dash at the far left side. For wires it has power, ground, and one wire going to the body computer which is under the glove box. That computer (PJB) does everything else, running all the lock solenoids. The keyless control module is also the receiver for the TPMS.

So then its not the keyless module that ultimately decides if its OK to lock the doors. If the keyless modules doesn't have lines to actually trip the solenoids then its sending an "I got a signal from the remote" signal to the PJB; open, close, panic, etc probably is identified by polarity and/or voltage. This means lifes a pain in the butt. I need a pinout diagram for the PJB :-/

btw - the keyless modules is the security module? Or are they separate? I noticed you did not mention security or differentiate.

thanks.

I've been meaning to do this for a long time, you pushed me into doing it. Attached is a listing of the PJB pins, relays and fuses, with diagrams of all of the connectors. I hope it is useful.

Would it be possible to just swap the keyless module with the GT security keyless module and have the GT security system on a Sport?

How difficult would it be to wire in an aftermarket alarm system (for example a Clifford 70.5X)...?

Wow thanks, Rotus8! Unfortunately, this doesn't directly answer the question of how to get the keyless system to lock the doors if the engine is on -- or I'm just not smart enough to see it.

So it seems its not the keyless system that makes the choice, its just a transmitter of the key fobs command, its something else that does this. Do you know what that is?

I've called a couple of local dealerships: "We generally don't sell factory service manuals" ugh. When people don't know their own business....argh. I wish I could sign up for the online manuals that their techs do!

The receiver has a single wire going to the instrument cluster computer. Over this wire it has to communicate the lock/unlock and alarm commands as well as the tire pressure monitoring info. How it goes from there to the PJB which does the actual locking and unlocking is carefully hidden from us, probably on the CAN bus.

That would mean there's no way to install a turbo timer and have the doors lock.

There's always a way, it's just not as straightforward as you would like. You have to tap into the door solenoid wires to do it. Not easy, but possible.

Sorry to revive an old post, but I've been having issues with my keyless entry system and I've messed with the Keyless Control Module above the map lights and the PJB with no success. Just curious what the module under the dash looks like? I have a 2005 Mazda 3s. Not sure if the location of the module is different between my model and the Mazdaspeed3?
