Do you like it or think they shouldn't?

I am one of those rare cases where I hate automatic now and am totally into racing.

But do you think some woman should just stick to auto?

i find it very sex when my wife drives my car, but I never let her drive it because I am afraid she'll scratch it...what a dilemma

You're a girl driving an MS3... (no duh its a stick...)

Marry me? Answer your question? ;-)

I drive an auto/tip-tronic whatever cause 1. im lazy and 2. I couldnt pass up the deal on the car...Anyways, If they can drive it well then by all means, drive a stick, If they are learning, Hope you got a decent transmission and insurance

Not to be rude, but what kind of question is that - that they "shouldn't" drive a stick and just stick to an automatic? It isn't like driving a manual transmission is genetically coded to only people born with XY chromosomes. All it takes is patience, some understanding of the process and practice.

If a guy had posted this thread, he wold have been flamed right down to piles of ashes!

The dreaded double standard strikes again!

I totally agree. I will not date a chick that cant drive stick, but never met a chick that could. Meaning that they all took the time to learn. s*** it was fun. almost became a Friday date. Well until they had to take my drunk ass home. Again girl or guy its just practice and patience to learn.

No one was putting down women here so chill. She was simply asking for the opinions of others. I do think some women shouldn't drive a stick, because I know some women who couldn't drive a stick to save their life even if they spent years trying to learn, but the same goes for some guys too. Being able to drive a stick is in no way realted to gender, some people can and some people just cant, its just that simple.

Jeg - do not presume to tell me to "chill" - I said I wasn't trying to be rude.

I'm guessing she was posing the question to the males of the board only, because the women on this board, almost to nth degree, drive and own vehicles with manual transmission.

No, no cat fight. I just have a hard time believing someone is asking whether or not women should be allowed to drive a manual transmission. That just seems so, I don't know - backwards seems too harsh of a word - antiquated maybe?

Not just someone, but one of your very own!

As I stated just a few posts ago: A guy creates this thread, and he would have gotten flamed to oblivion, a gal creates the thread, and the kid gloves are on! gotta love it! :) (eekdance)

Donas - just because she has ovaries does not mean she is one of "my own." :)

By the way, I think that "driving a stick" is one of the most overrated measures of automotive coolness. And I learned on a stick. Do I prefer manual? Yup! Are manuals better for feeling connected to the road and driving involement? Yup!

Do I look down on people who can't drive stick? Nope!

As long as they don't tailgate, weave in and out of traffic and drive like a complete moron, I could care less what transmission they know how to operate.

Heck I'd take DSG over an auto or manual anyday. I guess that makes me less of a driver.......NOT!

Get over it already!
