2007 Mazdaspeed 6
Hey everyone, I just got my speed 6 last night. Been around these forums for a while, but fineally joined the owner's club. I look forward to making some changes on the car rightway, basic bolt ons and work my way to a build and atp kit. I'm holding out for the pnp engine managment from any of the tuners and also for a fuel solution.

I thought i would start with the exterior first.

Does anyone know a good tint shop in plano tx? I'm looking specifcally for color stable 3M tint and also the 3M clear bra for the front, paint chips are a b****
I'm also looking for wheels, but does anyone know if an 8 inch wide wheel sits flush with the fenders or will a 8.5 be better? I'm going to drop it about .5 -
.75 inches, what is the best coilover suspension setup for this, that will keep the closest to stock comfort level, but will get rid of the lean in hard turns?(uhm)

once again happy to fineally happy to join the club and look forward to meeting someone of in the local areas

thanks alot man, i do have one general question though, after some hard runs last night, trying to get a good break in, i was letting it cool in front of my house, i was smelling something burning was wasent quite sure what it is, there is no smoke, no leaks, everything runs great, it pulls alot harder then other ms6 that i've driven, and there seems to be no problem, other then the smell, any idea what its from? brakes seating in, oil?, the salesman did say that he dosent think that they used synthic oil in the the ms6, but as far as i know, all turbo motors are to use synthethic right? Also, after about a 2 hour cool down, i went to check it out and the engine bay was still really hot, is this normal? i mean its really hot under there. any input would be helpful

when you say good break in.. do you mean you drove it hard? like red line?
isn't that bad for your car? I thought you had to drive it smoothly for the first 500-1000 miles to let the seals stay in place.

its going to get extremely hot under the hood for long periods of time because its a turbo car. The turbo is in a tight space behind the motor and if it hasnt been run hard before their are probably things burning off. Like Ktan91 said, your not supposed to rip on a brand new motor

+1 on that. Take it easy if it is a new car. You probably smelled brakes or just new palstic heating up and that will pass. The thought of thrashing a motor that has not been broken in yet is painful. You will have plenty of time to do that after break-in!

BOO!!!! the DISI motors are supposedly ran from the factory, so no breakin should be needed..

besides... I'm a fan of seating the rings hard!!

let me clearify, when i say i ran the motor hard, i dont mean, 5k dumps, hard, I fallowed a clear method that made sense in the way it was described. It was actually on the test drive i did, and i ended up getting the same car. I let me engine warm up, and then I did some 75 percent throttle pulls in 2nd and 3rd to about 6k and then then i get it run down through the gears, decelerate. then I did a full boost run 2-5 and let it run down in 3rd. I did a couple of roll in to boost at 45, 55, 65, 85, just to vary the load on the engine and seat the seals on the pistons. That put about 20 miles on it and pulled into service and had them change the oil right away. that was my break in method, and now i'm driving it like i would everyday, fairly easy on it, with the occasional on boost kick, thats it. running regular oil rightnow, but will change to synthetic after 1500 milles.

anyone have any questions as to why i did this. you can just look it up on mototune.com or something like that. its a procedure used for bikes, but applies to all combustion engines. Engine seems to be running strong and the smell has gotten lighter and lighter. very faint now.

getting it tinted on monday and cant wait for the mods to begin. i think i will go with an intake, and then all autoexe stuff, then advan racing rims, brembo brake upgrade, by the time the standback is pnp, i will order a atp turbo kit, however i need a catted downpipe, so still waiting on that, and then run about 18 psi on the stock motor, until my warrenty is up and fuel solution is out.

people, will fallow different school of thought, i say do whatever works best for ya, wanna drive it easy go for it, wanna run it hard then do it, its your stuff, whatever happens your gonna have to deal with it.

i wouldent bet on the recall, i think the turbo seal issue was taken care of for 07. which is a good thing, that way you dont have to worry about it breakin on ya.

Definitely hasn't been taken care of as there are '08 MS3's that smoke like a freight train. Word is that Mazda just recently went with a different part number for the turbo.

really? man i had no idea, i thought it was switched over in 07, oh well, lets hope for a recall, you probably wont need it though

plano?

my home town is in carrrollton but i'm at Oklahoma State for school right now.

nice to know another mazda guy i suppose. I'd say this is the modding order (my opinion):

suspension
power

the car looks good as is, and dumping it on the factory wheels will look fine. the 18's fill the wheel well very nicely.

CPE's PnP system for the ms6 should be out very very shortly, and everyone is rumoring PnP for the ms3 in november, but I don't think thats going to happen.

hey, nice to hear from ya, yeah, i'm trying to plan out what to do, however i have to be careful with the spending, beacuse i have a car payment as well. how are you liking the hybrid bov?
