Bad Tint Job

I was wondering if you guys could offer some advice. I had a tint job done on my car probably a month ago now. I wasn't too happy from the start but thought I would kinda suck it up. Every time now that I shammy my car dry I notice it more and more, and today I'm going to go back to talk to the guy after work. I think the back window needs to be redone, there is a few bubbles and hairs that are stuck under there in spots. How should I go about talking to this guy without getting into a big arguement? I don't want to offend the guy and say his work is bad but at the same time I really think it needs to be redone as the job was quite expensive. Please let me know what you guys think, I value your opinions. Thanks.

It costs nothing for him to redo it. Just ask him to come over and inspect the job. Ask him if this is the kind of work he wants to be known for, or if he thinks they could do better.

Most places want to make sure they do a good job, and want people to recommend the shop to others.

Bad publicity isn't worth the redo of a tint. At least not to any reputable shops.

My question is, is this a store that you went to or an idenpendent guy? Then my next questions is, are they titanium? I hope they are since you say it cost alot shouldn't have cost more that 120 including the front windsheild. If so you should have a lifetime warranty on those tints and it shouldn't matter.

every place ive been to has told me to inspect it after a month and come back if there is a problem... Some places offer a lifetime warranty, not all. If I were you, I would definitely go back and have it fixed.

as said above, if your not happy go back. Be pleasant and just say whats wrong with it and how you would like it fixed. Most places will fix it, and make you happy. If they dont and they get angry, you dont want to deal with those kind of people in the future anyhow.

Don't mean to jack the thread, but I'm looking for tint also...does anyone know if Titanium interferes with Radars, GPS, satellite radio?

No the tint isn't titanium, I had Solar Gard Supreme series limo put on. I had the back windows done since it is illegal to tint the front ones in my province. I live in Canada btw, I paid $300 including tax for the tint job. I checked around town and this was one of the most expensive places but also used a better product than most.

Thanks for the replies guys. I am going to take it back and have him look at it after work today. Wish me luck. I sure hope I don't have to get into it with the guy. I just want him to back his tint job and if it bothers me this much, I would think he would want to fix it.

Definitely go back and have the problem areas replaced. For that amount of money I am sure that you have a warranty. Plus if it looks crappy now, its only going to get worse over time. Just go in there and ask him to take a look at it and point out the problem.

It was probably CAD300....but in reality it sucks even more since our currencies are near parity again after 30-some years. Of course that assumes the tint was a US-made product.

Yeah, it was Canadian currency. We are very limited though where I live as to the places that we are able to go to for tinting. We don't have a ton of shops that do tinting with the good tint brands so basically you have to pay their prices. I could have drove 2 hours and found a cheaper price but there is the inconveinience of doing that. If this guy can put everyting right, it will be $300 well spent imo.

im getting my car done this week with solar guard tint. Is this a a good brand? The said it will cost me around 120 bucks and it comes with a lifetime warranty.

Hairs!? WTF?!

Thats what it looked like to me. Maybe it isn't hairs at all. I talked to the guy after work and he has me booked in for Wednesday. He claims it is a touch up job and he can correct everything. We shall see how well things look after he supposedly touches it up. I'll keep you guys updated.
