Blackberry Pearl

Bah to the iphone. Overpriced crap. I just want the Pearl b/c it comes in red.

(Yes, typical girlie response, so deal. :p)

Also, my mom and my best friend have T-Mobile. Neither have complained about it's service (or lack thereof) however, I don't think either are that technologically educated to know what a dropped call is. Probably think they keep hitting the "end" button or something. LOL!

the pearl is a bit old, found this on giz about the newest verizon version of the pearl that sounds a lot better and i'm sure will make its way to cingular/tmobile

lol

I believe ryan had T-mobile for quite some time (until recently) and was always happy w/ them.

lol not that at all....i am already aware about checking into their service in my area, which is why i didnt ask about that, I merely asked about the phone in questions.....
Yeah, me too. Constructive comments not welcome... (yupnope)

besides a little bit of a better camera and gps, its not to different than the 8100, and neither of those 2 better qualities do i care about...

(yes) I just want a phone that's light, not overly bulky and has basic texting, and internet & e-mail capabilities.

I have the blackberry pearl (with At&T)and I really love it. Im really not sure how i survived without a smart phone before (even tho my work still makes me carry around a razr as well - dont ask me why)

I dont really know if I can list the specific pro's and cons of it, but if you have questions I could def try and answer them. A couple of things based on what ive read so far tho: Web browsing is very easy to do with the pearl. My home computer is fried so I have been doing almost everything internet related either at work or on the BB. My only complaint about the pearl is the split qwerty keyboard with 2 letters per key. Now that I have used it for several months I am used to it and the sureType (T9) is very intuitive, but I imagine that it would be much easier with a full keyboard. If you plan on doing a lot of emailing or texting, you might want to look into one of the larger blackberry's with a full keyboard. The curve is supposed to be amazing and not too much larger than the pearl. Obviously, the pearl is the least expensive of the bunch but if you don't mind spending the extra money, something larger might be the right choice.

If you want to check out an interesting forum for BB users, go to www.crackberry.com

hope that helps

so then why are you getting rid of your razr? load opera mini or mobile on and you're good to go

Have you ever tried to get on the internet on a Razr? It sucks. Plus my battery is about to take a dive. I barely use the phone, I'll have one 15 minute conversation and the battery dies. Honestly, I really just hate the phone. Not a huge fan of flip phones.

Sounds like your battery's defective... hell, it sounds like your entire phone might be! You should get a lot more than 15 minutes talktime out of a razor. in fact, generally speaking, non-smartphones have a far better battery life than smartphones (for obvious reasons.)

as for the internet... there are too many factors to consider. what service are you on? is your phone broken? assuming you've got a decent service and your phone's OK, the internet shouldn't be THAT bad...

The phone is almost 2 years old. Figured that's about all I'd get out of it or the battery anyway. (dunno) The service is actually really good. Sometimes have a hard time connecting / calling out, but rarely, if ever, drop a call.

I'm sure I'll find a million things wrong with the Pearl, but that's why Taylor (evilmonkey) is asking everyone for opinions. So we can avoid making the same mistake (buying phones we hate) twice. Although, every phone has it's positives and negatives.

maybe the iphone is your best choice then... like a mac computer, you can't do everything with it... but what it does... it does well. You'll rarely (if ever) have any problems with it...

the razr's browser is pretty bad. opera mini makes it way better

the functions you're looking for are common to pretty much all phones. something like the pearl seems like overkill

I had a windows mobile treo 750.. it may be overkill for what you want, but it is fantastic.

Also check with T-Mobile or whoever to see if they require a data plan for smartphones. Sometimes internet useage = airtime or extra charge. I know verizon wants 30 bucks a month for a data plan.

you're about 6 months behind. the iphone is $400 now. there used to be a way to put 3rd party apps on it but with apple's latest firmware a week or so ago it was blocked. hackers have worked a way around this (why do they bother to keep trying to stop this? it only takes a week to find a workaround) but it's not clean yet. give it another week and 3rd party apps will be back.

what are you talking about 6 months behind? ok, my bad its 400 dollars for a damn phone... also, they keep blocking the third party. i rather be able to upload applications whenever i want and however i want.

I got the blackberry pearl 3 weeks ago and I have not found 1 downside yet!! The internet is fast, E-mail is great. The keyboard takes about a week to get used to texting but then it is great.
I switched from a V3 Razor to the pearl. Add a 1G memory card and store all of your music on it as well. The camera is really good as well(alot better than my razor)
IMO it is a great phone and with 3G wireless you can take it anywhere in the world!! The Iphone is not 3G and wont be for apx 1 more year!!

Just my opinion

Rob

Have you looked at the Tmobile Wing. or the Att Tilt? i think theres a tmobile equivalent of the Att Tilt. The only thing i can comment about the Perl is the game it has. Comes with Alleyway or brickbreaker if you will. played it on my friends perl. uses the little perl ball to move your block. pretty cool. but i was intent on breaking my friends Hi-score.
