Desparate Housewives advertising ... I guess ?

I know that a lot of people have bemoaned the lack of Mazda5 advertising, me included, but this may prove to be interesting ...

The shows plot calls for five young couples and their families to live next door to each other on an idyllic street in suburban Boise, Idaho. The producers goal was to populate the neighborhood with a variety of brands including Honda and Toyota.

"I looked at their script and envisioned a Mazda5 in every driveway," said Witter. There isnt a better example of an upwardly mobile starter car for families. Its not only sporty looking it has three rows of seats which makes it great for kids."

The producers auditioned the car and agreed but with one caveat; they needed all five vehicles in different colors to be on location within a week.

After a flurry of calls, Witter found exactly what he needed. A fleet of Mazda5s had just arrived at the Port of Seattle. He arranged to have five shipped post-haste.

"So we got the whole show, not just one driveway. The only thing missing was the zoom-zoom-zoom jingle," said Witter. "Thats the kind of product integration other companies pay a lot of money for."

Well not really a "Desparate Housewives" watcher, but at least it something. Kind of hints at where Mazda wants to market this vehicle.

Cheers

Boise for TV Show? No worries, I don't see a big production undertake in Boise.

- Production to be done in studios in LA
- Studios in LA will recreate all the Boise neighborhood (outdoors)
- 2-3 monthly short video takes of Boise scenery (downtown, grocery stores, snow season, potato fields...) to complement the TV show local "realism"

Actually:

"Borrowers" shot under the code name "Neighbors" in an Idaho suburb where the producers commandeered a cul de sac. Five couples lived in a house rigged with cameras and raise the kids they are assigned. The U.K. version included underage couples, but in NBC's they are all 18 or over.

OK, this is awkward, ...not your reply..., but the fact that I'm discussing "Desperate Wives" details in these forums :D :D

Got it. Not that I'm interested on those type of shows (yeah, good excuse, LOL), but I went to Universal Studios last year and part of the Movie/TV Show Setting Tour takes you around the recreated "neighborhood" for the Desperate Wives (yeah, the Cul de Sac), so my guess was that ABC, NBC, FOX, HBO, etc. would do the same. Oh well, let me cut this short before our mods ask us to open a "Mazda5 on TV Shows and Movies" thread or I start feeling weirder writing more about it (evil). Movies: Ocean's 13 as I remember, right?
