Anyone ever put 20"s on a MS3?

The pennies have been saved the MS3 is mine!
What would it take to get some dubs on an MS3? I bet you could find a lightweight set that would be about the same weight as the stock wheels. So why not go with the dubs? Any pics of Ms3s on dubs would also be apreaciated.(wow)

Well it's not even that big of a jump. Dudes are putting them on 19's all the time why not go with an inch bigger size than that?

I saw a few 3s with 20s on cardomain. They actually don't look bad.

Thanx for the pic AK. I know you guys are all about smaller rims like 17s for the MS3 but I can appreaciate some bigger rims myself.

that actually doesn't look bad in the picture... i, myself wouldn't get bigger wheels than the stock 18's. my friend put 20's on her mazda6 and it looked like s*** in person... 20's aren't too big though, they look good.

stick with 18's on any 3. thats what I had and wouldnt have ever done it different. Looks perfect on a 3

I really don't think 20s suit a smaller economy type car, like the 3/MS3. Ya those pictures don't look bad, I actually think the second one looks good, because those wheels suit the car themselves. If you really wanna do 20s, and impress people, they better suit the car 100% or it's bust if you ask me. I really don't see the practicality of 20s either. Can't lower the car, so your ground clearance will be insane, and the ride will be so rough because there is no sidewall to your tires.

Buy 20's and you gotta buy smaller sidewall tires. Smaller sidewalls = detriment to even the smallest pothole. Do it if you want. It looks cool until you hit that unexpected pothole or dont see that speed bump.

(Chris Farley) Ive seen it a hundred times...

id rather see it on 17s, but thats just my taste i guess.
i consider anything larger just for show.

the bigger the wheels the slower the car.

The heavier the wheels the slower the car. With bigger wheels you could see a faster 0-60 or quarter mile time. Larger wheels spinning the same speed as small wheels travel more distance/time. If you can get to 60 before you have to shift that 1 last time you could take a chunk of time off.

I can see 20's on a 3 or 6 if its a show vehicle. Other than that it doesnt seem practical.....

I thought a smaller wheel would give you faster acceleration since it's a lower rolling mass. A larger wheel will maintain a high speed easier, but take longer to get there. A smaller wheel will accelerate faster but takes more energy to maintain a higher speed. That's why you see alot of track cars/autoX cars with 14s and 15s.

it's a mix of both really, an 15" alloy is going to accelerate faster than a 15" steel rim.

the larger rims would have to be made out of a significantly lighter material than the smaller rim, and even then they'd problay have to be pretty close in size anyway, since the larger rim has a greater circumfrence it's going to take a greater amount of energy to turn the wheel which would have to be offset by the decreased amount of weight in order to overcome the other set's smaller circumfrence. I'd say it's pretty safe to say that most 20" or even 19"+ rims don't have weight saving materials and performance applications in mind.

so... unless you're going to be spending $7K on 20" rims.. it's safe to say smaller is faster.
