shifter bushing questions

whats the difference between shifter base bushings and shift rod bushings?

if you go to twm there are the machined base bushings and just below them are new polyurethane shift rod bushings. are they the same thing, or different? if they are different would i buy both and if they are the same.. why would you pay more for poly over machined metal?

Shift rod bushings are not available for the MS3. Someone can confirm this, but I think it's because we have cable shifters.
