MS3 exhausts

Ok, so I am very familiar with WRX's set up for exhausts systems. Cat-backs dont do anything except add sound. If you want power you need to get a
Dp (down pipe). The dp connects the turbo to the catback. But a dp can void your warranty. Now for the MS3. I lnow they make catbacks, and they give you just sound( I like the corksport, myself), but I hear people talking about a "racepipe". In mazda terms is what you guys call a racepipe a "down pipe". So would a complete exhausts consists of a racepipe and CBE. Just like a WRX for example is a Dp and catback

One other question, 06+ WRX's if you do a tbe (turbo back exhausts) it is common for the car to get bad boost creep, untill you get some type of engine management, Cobb, utec. Is this the same for the MS3. And I knoe that there is no EM out for this car, but just wondering what you guys think.
Thanks

as far as the race pipe issue goes. i believe the race pipe would replace the section with the cats and such. its not related to the downpipe. but someone correct me if im wrong. thanks

no the race pipe is not the down pipe, the race pipe is the mid section which connects the downpipe to the CBE, it deletes the cat in the middle, hence the other name, mid-pipe.

There is an EM out. I havent heard of boost creep of any signifagance from the owners of the TBE even the catless ones.

I have some backfire. But i hope to get rid of that by the end of today since I will be installing my standback. But nothing else but just plain WHP.

knowlege i just got it tinstalled havent tuned it yet cuase i have to work but evrything seems good cars is running good!

From them directly. Haven't hooked it up yet to my lap top but with the maps prestored with 15psi holding through the whole power band, you can tell it feels nice...

CP-E all the way!!!

Thats cool, but like I said if I am not mistaken CP-E is the only manufacturer who offers a full turbo back with just three pieces. A DP, and a CBE which comes in two pieces. Other companies have created some pipes to eliminate the cats, please correct if i am wrong people, but don't actually get rid of the stock DP completely. The first cat is directly after the turbo on the stock DP.

If you really want to go full exhaust it would be headers and then turbo then TBE.

COBB is coming with their TBE soon...

Hey Knowledge, have you had any of these boost-spike or fuel cut-off issues with your CPE system? I'm wondering if the air straighteners in the CPE CAI and the COBB SRI are the difference between CELs and boost-spiking cut offs, and none of the above. I put my COBB SRI in last night and you're all right, an intake is the first and most necessary mod for this car. SO much more fun, and the sound is superb!! I have zero issues and no CEL, I don't foresee having one either, with how she's running. Fricking butt dyno is HAPPY!

No you will just be replacing the stock CBE. Thats it. No gains.

If I had any boost spike its gone now considering I am running off the standback now. As I mentioned before I have some backfire occasionally but nothing bad or anything. I am going to try and dyno and tune on Sat.

Do you think any of your backfire was not fuel-air mix/exhaust considering your turbo issue you just had? I'm looking into COBB or CPE (as you know on the CPE) TBE and I just want to know if I need EM at the same time to correct any performance issues I'll inherit at that point.

Ok to help the exhaust thing here (it didn't seem to clear) the cpe downpipe and vibrant catbacks are the odd balls here.
Cpe makes a long dp that bolts to any cbe.
Cork and TXS make short dp's that bolt to any mid or test pipe and then to a cbe.
Vibrant makes a dp back exhaust so you don't need a mid pipe but obviously it is not able to attach to the cpe dp (as both include midpipes)
Most anything else I know of would interchange for now.
As for Subaru style boost creep no, we get full blown hitting a brick wall boost cut. Enigne management will fix it but its an added expense to get the best response, power, and drivability from a tbe.

Ok now I understand, but a couple more Q's?
1. When you talk about boost cut off, do you mean at 5,600rpm's. Is that what you meant.
2. Who makes EM for the MS3 and where can you find it. WRX wies it was Cobb and EcuTek

He, he I just installed mine and now I believe my boost doesnt' cut till after 6k... I want to feel 17 and 18 psi but have to wait till I get home...
