My CX 7 T has about 900 miles on it so I decided to check my fuel consumption. 344.4 miles divided by 16.218 gallons of 91 octane Citco equaled 21.24 mpg. i drive in an urban setting with mostly stop & go, interspersed with some 40 mph 1/2 mile stretches. My AT shifts at ~24-2500 RPM except when I have fun merging onto a 4 lane and hit 4-5,000 rpm. Thought maybe someone might be interested. Ed

Spoolinup: Couple of comments. Are you using a 91 or higher octane gas? My vehicle gets into second gear very quickly at ~ 10 mph. My driving is such that I find no need to go over 2,500 rpm most of the time and I do this using a steady throttle, not running up to 2500 in each gear and then backing off. You should be in 5th gear at about 45 mph and 6th at ~ 55. How are you measuring your fuel consumption, miles/gallons?

erhayes--93 octane, everytime. Also, like I said before, doesn't matter how I drive it, whether I granny it around, letting it shift between 2000 and 2200 rpm, or drive it like I stole it, can't get any better than 15.5 to 16.0 mpg. I measure miles per gallon by how many miles we have on the odo at each fill, and divide that by the amount of gas that is used to fill the beast back up, ya know, typical mpg measuring.
Brian MP5T--last time we filled to the most recent time we filled we were having a cool front move through, so we were gettin 75-80 degrees, so we didn't use A/C at all, and only noticed about a half a mile per gallon better difference from using A/C.
I'm hoping it gets better mileage soon...getting ready to move 900 miles away, and don't need to be filling up every 250 miles........ugh....

I just filled up for the first time yesterday, and I was at a quarter tank left with 340 miles on the trip computer. I don't know how big the tank is, but that's better than the GTO I traded in on it.btw, dealership filled it up for me and I restarted the trip when I got in it. If someone wants to figure out the mpg that's cool. I figured it was upward of 23.

mileage depends on a lot of variables...
People in the northeast don't seen to do as well... Winter mix gas sucks... Summer only a bit better...
City mileage really hurts...
How you drive - heavy in takeoff will sap out gas...
AC around town hurts- though on the highway it won't hurt as much (compared to windows open)
I have about 11,000 miles on the car... In the first few thousand I was barely getting 14 or 15 mpg... Now I average about 18. I'm in NY, doing a lot of highway over the summer. I always use 93 octane.

Wife and I just hit 22mpg but that was on a 250 mile road trip + about 100 miles city driving. We figure straight highway it should be about 24-26. Straight city we've been getting 17-19mpg. Glad gas prices are going down though 
this is fact!
something about this car's mpg and newengland didnt mix well, i only got decent mpg on long highway trips and from my recolection, i only took 2 long trips in the 7 (300miles+)
