I really like to the side molding thing. It is really calling my attention. Did you have a professional take them off or did you do it your self? If you did it yourself how did you do it?

just peel them off. I got mine off and 95% of the double sided tape with them. It's really easy. Takes 10 minutes including the wax portion.

How funny... I washed/waxed my black mica this wknd, too... and removed the side molding. For a minute I thought I started this thread while I was sleeping or something.

===========

There's a side molding removal guide somewhere on this forum... but all I did was park my car in the sun for a bit and add goo gone to start. Once you get the corner raised with your fingers, the rest is easy to yank off. I had some sticky residue left over in a few places which goo gone took care of.

looks great!
best/cheapest mod i ever did was to remove the side moldings. lol

just left it in the sun for an hour and they peeled right off, no residue at all.

thats funny, I have a black mica and am in the plans of making it look a lot like that one before i even saw that pic. i actually shut the two doors on the drivers side in an awkward way the other day and it caused the side molding to start to come off, i fixed it but now realize i should have taken that as a sign to continue what had accidentally happened.

I talked to a power coater in the area and said he would do each wheel for $65. I think I want to get a dark gunmetal color though, not straight black, although I love the blacked out look. I guess you did the emblems too huh? has anyone taken the emblems off and if so are there any surprises with those or do they come off easily too.

only problem i have with blacking out mine is that in NJ you can legally have the front windows tinted and i dont feel like having an excuse to get pulled over.

good stuff

my rims are actually the black mica from mazda. the emblems are black

I got this advice from someone else and it worked like a charm, go to lowe's to get Goo-gone....spray it over the molding, let it rest for 10 minutes , get something like fishing line, plastic bag or anything that is paperthing and pull a corner enough to grip it and then pull firmly and steadily and spray some wax type product and done. 15 minutes worth of work tops.
