Mazdaspeed3 key

Hey, this question goes to anyone who has driven the mazdaspeed3 already. What does the key look like? Is it a flip key? Does it look like the mazdaspeed6 key? does it look like the rx8 key? Or does it still look kinda like the cheaper key we have now that has the separate little cheapy remote entry system thing?

I was just thinking about this the other day, and I was just wondering if they upgraded it for the speed version at all.

its the flip key, in the US the ms3 doesn't get the credit card key.

that is correct. The '07 US mazdaspeed 3 will get a flip key.

If you want to get a flip key for your regular Mz3 then check out www.onlinemazdaparts.com, click on the catalogs, and then Mz3. There's a kit for the '04-'06 for about $80, and one for the '07 (actually the MS3's key) for around $125.

Interesting. Better than having a key and a remote, but I don't know how I feel about the key sticking that far out of the column when in the ignition.

I agree with the sticking out key part. I noticed that the pics show a wheel to close the center vents. That will be nice to have. My wife hates air on her when she drives ittll be nice to be able to close em. I also noticed the steering wheel looks odd not having the cruise control on the right side.

I think most people who've had the flip key like that it sticks out farther because it keeps their keys from hitting the column and making noise.

you can get a flip key for all mazda 3's '04 and up, but they do not come standard on any in the US except for the, as yet, unreleased MS3.

That picture is not from a mazdaspeed 3, it's just of a 3 with a flip key (as that's what people asked for pictures of). The wheels on the vents are one of those things that some other countries got that never made it over to the US. I don't know why, they just do that sometimes. Also please note that the speedometer is in kph, not mph.

Nope, that's a good 'ol winning blue Mz3, not a mazdaspeed 3. This is cosmic blue.

Careful there. Some time ago I read a letter somewhere about an Audi owner who had his flip type key confiscated by TSA before boarding an flight home where his car was parked in the airport lot. He had a back-up, but said TSA won't budge on declaring it a "switch-blade" like device and therefore prohibited on the plane.

Hmmmm interesting. Lesson learned here? Make sure your key is in the open position before going through security.

My 2007 Mazdaspeed3-Where's my flip key?

Hey everyone,

I picked up my MS3 on July 14, 2007 and no flip key. I got two keys with remotes. Does anyone know if the dealer just ripped me or if they decided not to issue the flip key in the US for the MS3. I got my wife the CX9 and she got two of them and they are sweet. Much slimmer in your pocket instead of two seperate pieces. If someone could let me know it would be greatly appreciated since I have to go tomorrow to pick it up from the dealer anyway after they replce the #4 motor mount on the recall.

This thread is ancient. MS3s in the states get the plain old key and remote. Canada got the flip key, but the US car transceiver is not compatible so they don't interchange. You can replace the transceiver in the car and all your keys for $300-400.

Cool I never saw the real key when I drove it yesterday. They only bring out the valet key for test drives.
