I'm looking to possibly do a similar install as to what byohndspeed
has done in his car. Here is his pic he took, and the plastic peice the speakers are in is what I want to buy one of for each side of the car (so I can keep my original unmodified ones). Anybody know where I can get these and how much they'd cost me? I may call the dealer tomorrow, but odds are they wont be cheap if I order through the dealer.

Thanks!

Actually, if you creat custom kick panels like his or mine (see pic below) you will be removing your stock ones and replacing them with the custom one, so no harm is done to your originals.

That's true, however I may try to find another way so that I dont have to take the door apart and stop power from going to those speakers. I'm a little worried about taking th door apart. Any ideas on where I can buy something like those side panel peices though that you made?

Thanks!

rider--those kicks look nice.though he wont be able to fit his 6.5 to well like that.by the time you put a 6.5 on that angle the kicks would look like a tumor.also imaging is a little better with the kicks going straight out(not saying that yours dont)its easier to tune and get better imaging the other way..btw what amp are you running your 3way with?

was not sure he had a 6.5" component set. 6.5" would be difficult in the kicks with the absolute best imaging. That is why I went with a 3-way set and put the 6.5" in the doors. I have been contemplating going with 2 5.25" sets (1 in kicks and 1 in door) and an 8" in each door, but no money for that right now. :(

Anyway, I am currently running a RF power 551x bridged to power the components. Liked the looks for the system, but will eventually replace my RF amps with somethin better. I thought I would give them a shot and personally liked the sound of the JBL amps I was using before. Not sure what I will go with next though, something with better SQ though.

As far as the panels, I would check some junkyards or even call mazdarecyclers.com. They should be able to hook you up with the side panels

i would keep what you have for speakers they will work fine.i would dynamat the door "really good"then get a four channel amp and a matching 2 channel and a really good crossover(unless the amps are adjustable enough)and dont use the passive crossover the focals came with.just run the speakers straight to the amps.it will make the speakers sound so much better.the rockford amp you have isnt bad.just get another 2 channel to match it and an external crossover and try that.i think you will be quit impressed.
