OK...so I know this is probably the wrong forum for this question, but I'm an MSP guy and I don't want to intermingle with all those savage MP5 guys.

Anyway, I've asked this question before and didn't get an answer, and I've searched and couldn't find an answer. So please help.....PLEASE!!!!

I just washed my car yesterday and tried for the second time to use my new micro-fiber towel. I normally use a product called "The Absorber" which is similiar to a chammy and works great, but just takes too long to use.

When I use the Absorber the water beads come off, and there are no streaks. However, when I tried the micro-fiber towel, it just streaked the water, and I couldn't get it to pick it up cleanly. I read the directions that came with it, and I did all of that. I misted the towel before using it, and wrang it out when it got damp. So what am I doing wrong?????? Everyone raves about their micro-fiber towels, and I certainly didn't get a cheap one, so it has to be that I'm using it wrong. Can any one enlighten me?

I dont know about the towel one,, but I have the absorber.. it really works,, but it takes to damn long.. the water normally dries on the rest of the car by the time you get done "absorbing" water else where...

I know its bad or whatever,, but I just use a damn towel. it works so well...

For drying; I use the Waffle Weave Micro Fiber Towel......

The first thing I did was wash all my new Micro Fiber Towels in liquid detergent, then dried on 'low heat' with NO DRYER SHEETS or FABRIC SOFTENER. (thumb)

I'm tellin' you guys, try a Watersprite! It looks/acts lika a chamois, but it's way easier on the paint, and they last 5 years at least. I swear by them. Any synthetic chamois that you can get at Kragen sucks.

Have you tried one of those on Black Mica?

On silver,,,you could dry with a blanket!! (rofl) My wife's ES is soooooo easy!

Bookmarked! I dry with the Waffle Weave Micro (not the regular Micro Fiber). I will have to mention this product to my 'local' detail expert, Joe; and get his feedback as well. Ya'll know Joe! The guy with the Blue Si, who helped me detail my baby with the Platinum Premium Protection.

Maestrokneer, do you live in a very humid climate? I find here in central NC, which is persistantly humid, it's hard to dry with any microfiber towels (waffle or fuzzy). I only use them for buffing off wax. I actually use a leather chamois but need to look into Eggnatey's suggestion or maybe a california waterblade.

Superspud, I hear ya man...I have the same problem. The absorber works Great! But the rest of the car is dry by the time I'm halfway done with the car. If only I had a gaggle of midgets armed with absorbers at my beck and call. Everything's easier with a gaggle of midgets!

You all have been really informative about WHAT to use. But I'm more concerned with HOW to use it. I've got a good quality micro-fiber towel, and it just doesn't seem to work on my black mica. I'm thinking that I'M doing something wrong. So if someone who uses a micro-fiber towel could explain HOW they use it to dry their car, that would be much appreciated.

Waffle Weave

I use the Waffle Weave Micro Fiber for Drying. The other Micro Fiber Towels, I use for removing wax, detailing, etc...

My car is Black Mica, also.

The Waffle Weave is much, much more absorbant than the regular Micro Fiber Towels.

I received 12 (2 as a bonus). Only one is Waffle Weave (20x27 I think). It is good to have a few. A buddy of mine spent $15.95 for just a Waffle Weave from another vendor!!

YEA! They work like charm! you will be able to dry your car in less than couple minutes with that!

At BJ's Warehouse (funny name I know...) they are selling a pack of 20 Micro fiber towels for like 20 bucks. Are there a difference in quality between towels or are they the same? Should I be wary of this kinda deal???

Arlan: Not sure about the quality. I know some are better than others. When Joe (Blue Si) saw the ones I got from Vapor Cleaning Products; he said they were the same he paid alot more for from Meguiar's or Premium Auto Care. 20 for $20.00 is a great price if they are good ones; but how are you going to know? That's the problem.

OK...I'm putting this thread back on track right here and now!

Will someone PLEASE just tell me HOW they dry their car with the micro-fiber towel. Not WHICH towel, or WHERE they bought the towel, but just HOW they do it. Is it like using a regular towel? Or like the absorber where you have to wet it first, and then wring it dry every couple of wipes?

I'm just trying to figure out if my towel is s*** (which I don't think it is) or if I'm doing it wrong or if nothing is wrong at all, and the little water streaks I see when I wipe will disappear and leave my finish looking great. Please, if anyone can describe in detail HOW they dry their car with a micro-fiber towel, and what it looks like while doing it, that would be much appreciated. Thanks again.

Dude,

Just do this...

Since your Micrfiber towel is like any other towel (it gets wet and then streaks) Use the absorber first on the section.

After that, go over it w/ the Micro fiber towel to make it last longer.

I use the California blade to wipe off the big stuff, then follow up w/ a nice chamois. That's a good way to do it.

After that, use some Meguiars Quick Detailer w/ a dry micro fiber towel.
