Wire Harness Setup for tv/HU

Well i'm planning to install my Sony XAV-7W in-dash monitor and Kenwood KDC-MPV7019. I Purchased The Metra 70-7903 Wire Harness. I have no idea how to setup up the wires. Is there some sort of three way connector crimp i can get. The sony is a full receiver So which one should i run to the speakers? I'm sorry for the ramble but i've never done audio work before and would appreciate the help. Sorry if i'm not making any sense.

I wanna have the sony as the lcd only and the kenwood as my main receiver. Help Please!

Hi WESLEEPTHEYLIVE (woah!)

I don't know about the Kenwood, but the XAV-7W unit has 2 Audio/Video inputs so you can use one where you can connect the Front OR Rear RCA audio outputs from the Kenwood head unit, so you can listen to everything from both head units, using the XAV-7W as the master. You'll need a short stereo RCA cable to do this.

Of course you'll be playing back CDs in the Kenwood, but for the Radio stations, you'll need to decide which unit you'll use to tune them since your car only has one antenna lead. I would recommend using the Sony unit for AM/FM since that will allow you to see a little more of the station's info in the 7" monitor, which othewise would show you only AUX 1 IN or something like it if you use the Kenwood piece.

Think about mounting the Sony unit on the top spot if you don't want to have to close its monitor everytime you want to load/eject a CD in the Kenwood.
Actually, I understand you may need a kit or adapter to be able to mount 2 DIN-size head units, so do the research before you start tearing down the dash...

Your speakers would definitely will need to go connected to the Sony unit as long as you choose this option of the XAV-7W as the master.
Connectors wise, you can use butt connectors one size bigger so you can fit the two yelow, 2 red and 2 black cables from both head units to the same color cables on the harness adapter side. This may be a rude solution for some, so there's always the solder/heat shrink option, but I don't know if you're into that...
With this scheme, you won't need to connect anymore cables in the kenwood harness since the Sony will take care of that.
Don't expect the Metra harness to have an equivalent to the green wire in your XAV-7W; you'll have to run that directly to your ground wire in the hand brake base.

Last but no least, I'll recommend you paying an installer to do the job since this is no cheap equipment you got, and the installation can be easy but since you said you don't know about car audio, why risk it?.

Hope this helps...

Later,
FEDE.:p

Alright what i just got from what you said(clear this up for me) is that i can connect the front OR rear rca out put jacks from my kenwood into one of the inputs L/R rca jack on the rearof the Sony Tv. But then wouldn't this mean that i can't hear out of the rear speaker when i play the kenwood?

Actually My father is helping me out with it he is good when it comes to this kinda stuff and can do the soldering for me but i'd rather do the install this way and learn how to do it. How bout the orange illumi(i take it this mean illumination) on the kenwood harness? And also i see the black(ground) wire on the sony harness has a spade connetor at the end...where and how do i connect this? you say i solder it into the Metra Harness along with the Kenwood black ground right? And i wanna bypass the e-brake thing so i just hook the e-brake green wire up regulary and then ground it somewhere right? And the same goes for the Yellow wire on the sony (right next to the black ground) that connects to the Metra harness along with the kenwood yellow right? There are three looped wires on the kenwood harness marked illumi p.cont and ant cont..by looped i mean they are not bare like the rest of the wires.....And lastly what is the Brown(phone mute) wire on the metra harness for? I really appreciate your knowledge in these matters.

P con stands for Power Constant, you should have one of these in the Metra harness, this is required for both headunits so that you do not lose your settings everytime you turn the car off.

Illumi wire would be for dimming headunits, some headunits don't actually dim with the dimmer switch on the left of the steering wheel(guage dimmer)

As far as the brown wire in the meta this would be for an automatic muting function with some phone kits. Unless you have a cell phone with a docking station type thing in your car you will not need that one

Ant cont, is for cars that have electric anntenaes which when the radio is turned on the anntenae goes up. I donnot believe your car has this, as you most likely have a protege or mp3 and neither of these have power anntenaes as far as i'm aware

Hope this helps, as far as the connectors, butts will work just fine

As far as the Kenwood being the main, you will need to see if the Sony has outputs for front and rear, if so these can go into the kenwoods Inputs, however you will only get stereo when playing anything from the sony. To do this take both from the sony and with the right adapter you will be able to plug them into the Kenwood, you will need the adapter that has One male and two females

here's some pics of the outputs on the kenwood(no inputs that i see)and the outputs on the back of the tv and the input box for the tv. Now... can i wire both the kenwood the harness and the sony harness to the metra harness..... as to have them both independent....would this reduce sound quality? Because the way I understand it if i do it any other way I can't have all four speakers working when i play the kenwood.... Also can anyone tell me how i connect that spade connector? And do i have to connect the wires on the harness that are looped?
