Winter chains/cables/traction systems...

Do any of you have recommendations for severe-weather condition accessories for your (our) tires...? I've done a few searches, but quite honestly, have not found all-that-much as far as traction assistance.

I found a few chain systems, a couple of Z-cables systems... but I'd love to find something really, really good and moderately easy to install/uninstall in bad weather.

This is the most info I've found:

Any suggestions from experienced chain/cable users...?

I was told by Mazda that "Chains will damage your vehicle (idhitit) and are not to be used"

They went on to tell me that you will need the WIRE type of chains not the classic Chain type.

They did not say if you need two sets for all wheel drive model...

Anyone here used chains?

What style did you use and did you put them on 2 or 4 wheels?

OMG, Alpha Wolf is actually stumped? You were doing so well in the AWD discussion thread! I was actually going kneel down and pay homage, based on your astute analysis of AWD. But now.... I'm so disappointed! (hi)

Yeah I used a set and they look just like the pic in the link.

Didn't damage anything and had no problem going anywhere with them on.

Sorry to disappoint you vbbuilt01... (rofl2)

From california all my trips to the snow have been in my big 2WD pickup with chain chains.

But service manager made apoint of telling me not to put chains on this car.
When I asked about the cable type he said that would be okay but his tone was not very confident sounding.

Snow is not my forte....(drinks)

I got a set of the OEM wheels from eBay and mounted Pirelli Scorpion Ice and Snow tires for the winter here in Colorado, it makes a HUGE difference.
I would recomend them.
The stock Bridgestone Truenza's suck on ice or in the snow.
