windshield chip!

so something big hit my windshield, pow, one chip in it right in front of me. this really pisses me off seeing as i've had the car for just under a month!

so my question is should i call the dealer about this or my insurance company?

i don't know if it needs to be reaired or what, right now it looks like a bug splat until you touch it, then you can feel the indentation:wtf: :'(

Well, I have 2 chips on the passenger side of the windshield. Called the dealership and they told me they can do nothing for me. My insurance company (Progessive) said they would fix it for free. But if I want to replace it, then it would cost me at least my deductible.

I took the free repair (didn't have the money to fix it). Saving current for the replacement.

is it noticeable when they fix it? curius about the process involved... its pretty tiny, i jsut don't want it to turn into a huge crack over time like my last car

in mass, all winsheild chips are covered under your insurance as a free replacement (of course i pay through the teeth for car insurance!!) joe

Yeah I got a chip too this week right in the driver's side where your viewing line is, they tried to fix it but left a small hole on it. It's still noticeable. The only way when the chip is on your viewing angle is replacement of the whole windshield unless you could live driving with a mark right in front of you.

that sucks, i really do not want to replace ANYTHING on my car, know what i mean? a glass company is coming on tuesday to see if they can just repair it. i'm gonna cross my fingers. and upon further inspection, from the INSIDE of the car i think i feel the chip!

I had the windshield repaired today and drove all day but it doesn't cut it. The tiny hole is just within my view. Had the car for a month too same color as yours dosle. So a new OEM windshield is costing me 320.

well this is thru insurance, so if its just a repair then its free, but if its a replacement i pay $100 deductable which isn't too bad.

sometimes i wish i could put my car in a plastic box and never have anything hurt it

Factory windshields are crap! I had mine replaced 6 weeks into owning my P5. $0 deductible for me so I let insurance cover it...

heres an update just in case anyone has this experience, they know what may happen.

the glass company came and basically said its just a chip and will not turn into a crack. i guess they know what they are talking about. hope it doesn't go to hell this winter.

if it does turn into a problem i pay $100 and the rest is my insurance co's problem.

That seems a bit high..Mine was $220...parts and labor with warantee...
