Does anyone here use OE replacement pads? I typically don’t use OE replacement due to cost, not quality. Manufacturers are not in the business of making brakes but they put a mark-up on parts. I have a set of NIB OE rear pads that came with the car. The PO bought a 2nd set from the dealer when he had the brakes done (so I was told). I didn’t pay mind to it till this weekend. I am surprised to see all the name dropping all over the packing vs. markings on the pads themselves. Could it be that since Mazda-Ford alliance ended, it affected their supplier relationship with ATE (German in the Ford Europe connection)? Could Mazda be moving to a different supplier in Akebono (staying with a Japanese vendor)? Let the rumors and speculations fly!
I would be very happy if Akebono (Japanese) supplies the pads (or the lining as the box indicates) ATE (German) made the shims and other hardware kits. I know back in ’08 ATE supplied almost every single bit of the brakes. Then there’s still the FoMoCo vs Mazda…
So, anyone else here bought OE pads and is this what yours came in? I’m not sure if this is the value line or the OE replacement line. Just like the aftermarket word, even OE replacements have tiers…
