whats a clunking noise behind the dash?

anyone also have this noise..? its a clunking sound, seems to be made by something cylindrical in shape cause its not a hard clunk but has a hollowness to it.... it is coming from behind the dash....
does anyone know what it is? it only happens when I go over hard bumps... ie like abrupt bumps in the road... no speed bumps stuff...

Seems that dash rattles are a common issue with the P5. I have a similar clacking rattle that comes from the center of the dash behind the CD player. Only happens on certain types of pavement (rough expansion joints and edges). I suspect it is a connection for the optional tape deck. I intend to have Mazda check it out when I go in for an oil change. I'll let you know. I think it should be a warranty issue.

i get the rattle from the center of the dash behind the CD player too... that one seems easy to fix so I'm not too worried about that one

this one I'm talking about is coming from directly behind the speedometer gauges..

btw has this topic already been discussed before?

i get a rattle from the pocket by my left knee, and my hatch cover rattels 24/7. And i get one when i am on rough pavement from behin the cd deck. Man are they annoying.
