2001 Mazda MP3 #140
I am at a loss... to begin with, I have a history of mistrusting mechanics in general. This weekend, I took my MP3 to the dealership to get my horn replaced (I think the Florida humidity got to it, and it was no longer "Beeping", but "Meeping"). Because of my mistrust, I often walk around "checking" on my car. I can't stand to wait in the lounge! Well, I saw the tech finish up my car, close the hood, went inside the car and honked the horn. Im thinking "Great, that was fast." So the guy starts my car, opens the passenger door for his son (I'm assuming, he was at work with him), and then drive out of the work bay. He gets to the exit, and turns left, right out and off the lot. :wtf:
Now with my Bosal exhaust, I can hear the car a good ways away. He was only gone for just a minute, but he was on it hard! Now I am livid at this point, but I am somewhat of a passive kind of guy. So he gets back with my car, parks it next to the bay, and there it sat for an additional 40 minutes. I finally said something to the Asst. Service Manager, but not about the joy ride, cuz he was a "dick" to begin with. I finally get my car, and they try to charge me for the horn and labor... turns out the formentioned "dick" should have asked me if the car was under warranty when I checked in. Uh, is it just me, or shouldn't they know this to begin with. Anyhow... Im not looking for anything other than the assurance that this won't happen to anyone else. Should I write or call someone about this? Who do you suggest?

what you SHOULD have done is taken care of it RIGHT THEN AND THERE.....I would have gone straight to the owner of the dealer....told him what you just witnessed....and demanded some restitution....after all....to TEST THE HORN did NOT require a test drive....

This post is kind of scaring me since I will be dropping my car off at the dealership in a few days to have the sway bar bushings replaced. I think I'm gonna have to write down how many miles or on my car before I let them start see it.

When you guys give the car in...set one of the trip to 0 that way you can see how far they took it...

I'd suggest sending them an e-mail just to let them know that you know they are idoit...and don't take your car back their

WTF? all Mp3 are currently still under warrenty, what was that guy thinking?

Better yet, I'll set one odometer to 0 and leave the other where it's at. That way, they can't just reset one before I come to pick it up.

Hmm, I must have a pretty good dealer then. Aside from the odering mix up from the begining I had no problems. I watched them through the window change my rear links and bushings. The only thing I was wondering about was why they got out the cutting torch to get the links out but not knowing much about that kind of stuff I didn't say anything. But they did a great job and no joy riding. So far I have no clunking going on back there. But it's only been a week and a half. so. Good luck with your car man. HOpe things go right for ya.

hey guys, i told you don't go to gunther. they suck. their salespeople are morons, part people are dumb and ignorant and now i can see that the service people are also idiots. rene, next time take it to marlin. tell the service manager you are from the club and he'll take care of it.
