What the hell is going on in SF?

I am not sure what is up with that. I am for gun control, but banning guns doesn't make sense. It makes sense on paper - no guns, no gun crime - but it doesn't work that way.

Hell, you can walk down the street with a 6 gun on your hip here in Arizona.

I want a CCW. Not because I really like guns, but Phoenix can get pretty violent.

I guess the residents of San Francisco who voted on that really trust their police department.

As you know Matt, I lean to the left. I don't support banning guns. I strongly support legislation making it difficult to legally obtain a weapon - no felons, etc.

But, as you know, San Francisco is, well, San Francisco. It is a little different out there. As long as they voted, they get what they want.

I live near SF,and I make it a point to stay out of there,I hate that fu*@ing place.
the only thing good there are the strippers at centerfolds.

so soon the only people there that will have guns are the people that shouldn't have then wether the law was passed or not.

Are these people that pathetically hippie-tastic?

Now street thugs have a third urban area they can congregate in without having to worry about armed law-abiders to get in their way of beating up innocent people.

Just look how well those gun bans worked out in Chicago (#28 in Murder Rate) and DC (#6).

would you like to see the numbers for Britain, Japan, Australia (a country founded as a big ass prison camp so hereditary violence really isn't an issue...), etc? we've got to do something and arming the populace doesn't really seem to have worked as most people don't want guns...

speaking of...
when was the last time you heard about how a third person interuptted a beating by jumping in all "Rambo'd" up? people want guns to make them feel safe. safe from criminals, the government, whomever... you know what, I'll buy everyone a ******* teddy bear or a nightlite, their choice. that should make everyone feel that much more safe, that much more in control of a situation that they really have no control over.

let go of the need for control and realize that the world is so much bigger and more powerful than can be handled with a false sense of security...

what the **** about the right to bear arms? i thought all american citizens had that right. how can a city take that away?

depending on how you read it, you might need to be a member of a "well regulated militia" for it to apply to you...

A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.

This is the other side of the arguement, and well put I may add.

I for one find it to be a scary thought with all the possible crossfire from the police, common untrained citizen, and bad guys. (boom07)

On the other hand, a gun could come in handy in a first person situation, say with you and your girl getting held up.

As far as the 2nd Amendment goes, I believe it is too liberally interpreted by the conservatives. What kind of guns were around when the 2nd Amendment was written, you know?

wow...there went my rights in the second ammendment...**** frisco...bunch of gay ass hippies anyways...and too many ******* hills.

i guess if youre bill clinton you could read it that way...everyone else would read it as separate rights, etc. im suprised no one has challenged it up to the SCOTUS in either DC or Chi.

First, I'll say I'm a big supporter of the Second Amendment. I believe a well armed populice is the first defense against tyranny. That said, in San Fran, the ban was voted on in a referendum and the people spoke. If they want to be unarmed in the face of the SFPD (which is no liberal organization), that's their buisness. As far as I'm concerned, those Hippy/Anarchists got it wrong. Since they hate the Government and Authority so much, they should work on arming themselves more.

I would like to point out that this is a Republican calling for an expanded reading of the Constitution (privacy advocates everywhere rejoice!) and for the federal government/judiciary to supercede the actual votes and voice of the people and local government.

p.s. the end is upon us.... (lol)

holy ******* s***, these reasons and more is why california should be cut off the country and shipped out to sea. I can't stand those backwards ass flip flopping asshole hippies. They don't even know how to be a ******* hippy, they are too busy trying to be screaming douche liberal. Horray for living your life by a title.

If you dont smoke crack, engage in drug deals... commit crimes, it's not hard to avoid people with guns.... maybe these "voters" think they have a better idea of how they'd like their communities to be run than us "outsiders" do... (just a thought)

Recruiters are bottom feeders, everyone knows that...

who cares if they're hippies ? let them be hippies.... being a hippy never lasts... they'll wise up and become republicans sooner or later... maybe when they start paying taxes... ?

I wouldnt mind seeing california get relocated about 300 miles off shore...
