What is up with this stinky MPG??

Okay, I love this car but - how come I can't get more than 26 MPG out of it?

I get 28 MPG consistently out of my 175 HP 2.5 Nissan Altima, and that is if I kill a few Accords during that tank.

Is it gonna get better with more miles on the car? I am at 4441 miles now on the P5... in my Nissan, better MPG started after 10,000 miles... something about piston rings taking forever to seat I think...

ahh dont complain, you wanna talk bout crap MPG?? i just got 20.88...and i was happy, i was down at 16-17mpg before

I get 28 mpg with intake, cat back exhaust and bigger wheels. I am doing around 80-85 mph in the highway

I get 25-26 doing between 80-95 on the highway's, and it's freezing here, no mods, all stock..

Well, I do use synth oil, and I have winters on too (narrower tires 185/65/14, tooo much side to side sway..) if that makes any diff..

I can get better millage, but hey, rather have fun..

Something ain't right here thou... seems like people are getting from 20 to 34 MPG? That's weird...

Gotta check the tire pressuer I guess. And - forgot to mentuon, I am using Shell gas too. Shell gas in Nissan gives me about 20 miles per tank more than any other brand I tried, not sure how it affects the P5, need to experiment a bit more.

I heard that people with an intake get better mileage too...

I get about 25 mpg, but they put that crap alcohol in the gas during the winter months... putting my foot into it every chance I get probably doesn't help tho.

I run injector cleaner every oil change, run 5w30 synthetic, with Redline MTL, if any of that might affect it. Who knows! I drive about 80 on the highway, and pass between 90 - 95... Could just be my driving habits, though.

Man... I get 34mpg on Sunoco 89 octane, with my header, exhaust, intake and all... And I drive like a nut. =)
your math has to be wrong

the stock mpg of the pr5 and es sedan is advertised as 25/31mpg

gear and sythetic motor oil, intake/exhaust will help a little...maybe 1mpg more but that's it...but if you are driving 80-90mph that wastes more gas as you are moving more air...40-50mph is usually the best economy speeds...lower friction, low gearing, low speed

Actually, my math is bang on. Several folks can attest to that. I might just drive differently than all of you. Who knows.

For my last refill:
369 miles from full, 10.8 galons to refill. You can do the math, too, if you want, but I get around 34.25 mpg.

i dunno either. i've been monitoring my p5's gas consumption for the last month or so and its been going crazy. on my last fill up, 1 got 322 miles 9.6 gallons from full. last night, i refilled 11.4 gallons at 278 miles.

so thats about 24.4 to 33.5 mpg. almost 10 mpg

I have been measuring my gas EVERY fill up since I got the car (like to know where money goes, so I can allocate for toys..)

I attached the spread sheet, you can even use it for yourselfs too.

There is some error to it, but still averages out.

According to the Ratings up here in Canada, the car was supposed to get 29/39 mpg.
