What annoys you on the board

Im just wondering what everyones complaints are, We get SOOOO many compliments, but sometimes its the little things that could make any site better.

I'll start.
I get annoyed when people turn a good thread into a flamewar. Sometimes it'll be something that i keep checking back on.. Then all of a sudden its not there. I end up finding it in flamewars because one of us admins or mods had to move it.

Now what bugs you

The thread-to-flamewar scenario has been happening alot lately (onderground bodykits anyone?) and I've been thinking its a full moon around here. Seems like everyone is a tad irritable or snappy.

I may be in the minority here, but I also find it annoying that people so quickly refer new members to the "search" function, and refer them to it in such a condescending manner "We have a search function for topics like this, please use it next time before you post, this topic has already been discussed."

That's my two cents. Otherwise this is a great board with some really great and knowledgable people on it. I visit Protege Club once in a while and that board doesn't even come close to ours in terms of how nice people are. Sorry SirNuke, know you're a mod there, but truth is the members there are snots ;).

no offence taken.....but you will notice....I love it here as well....I have been a member here only ONE month shorter than there.....I was even approached by Enry and Antoine about being a mod here in the future when they need another one.....

Believe me.....I don't care where you go....you will find some people you can't get along with...or those that seem that they don't want to get along with anyone else.....its just how the world is....I have gotten use to it.

SO, NOW I will answer Kats question.....

just as Captn said....I am here to not only make new friends that have a common interest.....I came to the boards to learn...and to teach. So, the whole GO SEARCH thing does get on my nerves a bit.....look at it this way.....I can not imagine ANY aspect of our cars that has NOT been covered a few times already....so if no one ever did anything but search....got their information...and left....there would be no new threads except those in the off topic forum......and what fun would that be?

More general info needed at the top of the forums.
The same 3 topics in car audio are always discussed.
Wire color
Deck removal / wire harness numbers
Amp install

Other then that a few dinks that seem to log on just to piss people off and never offer anything useful to the board.

The flamewares thread move doens't always need to be moved. Sometimes the thread becomes a debate over the tread subject with unfortunit personal shots thrown in. If the personal attacks can be dropped, the debate doesn't need to be moved.

NO CARTMEN SMILIE!!!!!!!!!!!
should be 2 of them.
1 - Screw you guys, I'm going home
2 - Respect my Authorita!

I totally agree with you here. that ****** s*** pisses me off on the RX-7club forum too, but it's harder to explain that to 20,000+ members...

Oh and another thing: people who whine about an off-topic thread getting off topic. AHhh Haaalllloooo!!!! Read the thread title!!! :D

Oh, and don't forget about the people who have been registered for a year and have like 18 posts and jump all up in MY koolaid about me saying something that doesn't make sense to them. pssshhh....you lurk and the only thing you have to say when you do post is to b**** people out and call em stupid?! :flip:

what I find annoying is big ass signatures. It's okay when it's a picture - in most cases, but when it's all text, it's just confusing.

I find it annoying that some of the people here are WAY too sensitive. They just take everything personally like what was said is a personal attack on them. Grow up, calm down, and get over it.

Hey moron....get it straight...it's not koolaid it's TANG!!!!

Koolaid!?!?! Haa That makes no sense.....

pssshhh....you lurk and the only thing you have to say when you do post is to b**** people out and call em stupid?!

Oh quit your whining STEW-PIT!!!!

:D :D

j/k...obviously

GOOD THREAD --> FLAMEWAR : I think this is the bad thing about an internet forum. Especially a forum like this where members are coming from all over the world. We might sound like we know each other but the truth is most ppl haven't even seen each other. People can easily become morons in this environment coz' they don't have to take any responsibility of what they said. Worst thing that will happen to them after they fxxx at other members is they got kicked out of this board (will they?), so these morons flame others trying to be superior, or prove others are dumbs and they are smart ....
Nothing we can do, this is internet, although I am all against it.

"SEARCH BEFORE YOU ASK" : I think when newcomers ask questions which have been discussed before, at least we should give them a brief answer to their questions and then ask them (in a polite manner) to search for more details instead of going "Don't post without doing a search, we are not gonna discuss this topic over and over again .... do your homework before you post ...." that kinda thing. So give them some ideas, ask them to search for details, and if they still don't get their answers come back and we will try our best to help them and discuss the topic again.

IT'S ALL ABOUT RESPECT. YOU RESPECT PPL, PPL RESPECT YOU.

Very true disco.
I agree that one shouyld not be sacrcastic and say well "we have a search function" But one must realize that one must do your homework before you post, as Disco stated. Some things get clobbered to death and it starts to get very redundant. Instead that person could have simply performed a search and found everything. On the other end of the spectrum its not kool for us to be asses towards the newbies, just give them some brief info and politily nudge them toward searching a widely discussed topic before posting. I also noticed that things have become more hostile latley. This is normal for a growing community and we just have to shower these people good attitude so they subsequently feel bad for being an ass in the first place. Then there are certain individuals (such as certain lexus drivers) that come here only to flame. They provide nothing constructive and just cause comotion and havoc where ever they go. I admitt I was sucked into one of these mindless bulls*** whirlwinds but regrouped and decided not to respond to certain malitious posts ect and stoop down to there levels......well enough rambling.....I love u guys:D

I wuod also like to apologyze for my inabiyity to spell. I know this pizzes some people off but I kantz spell very well.

On the whole seacrch thing, I agree. What I will commonly do is if I remember a such topic, I will search, and post the link. Then I will gently nudge a person to search further. As a member, and certainly as a mod, I feel it is my personal goal to be of as much help as possible, and make some virtual friends along the way. (thumb)

when people have posted a few times to a lot and ask a question that's been answered countless times. grrr..

EDIT:

what i mean is that the person has been around long enough to know the issue has been brought up and/or is familiar enough with the board to use the search feature and whatnot and yet they STILL fail to search.

What I am saying is if you see a new guy posting questions on repeated topics and you don't like it, ignore it instead of flaming ppl for not searching the board b4 they post. Don't fall into the destructive group of idiots

Right! Just let the person know about the search function.

This I agree
