West Coast MSP Buyers?

sup jp,

yeh i just went tonite after work to check it out. i dunno if you read my reply in one of the other threads but right when i told the salesperson that i was already being helped by phong he just walked away. didn't even want to help me. bastard. anyway, i checked out the interior and stuff. pretty nice overall. what's with the weird mesh on the seats tho, like in the back? o well, overall it was pretty much as good as i thought it'd be (as far as looks and such). and yes, i'm still waiting patiently. do you know how this front plate drill hole thing works? I DONT WANT HOLES!! person who drills the holes in the car --> (chair)

Louie,
car still there? as far as the mesh on the seats, it's just like the miata i'm told. suppose to last longer "just like iron threads" exclaimed the salesguy who chatted w/me. sorry about the rudeness you encountered. the dude i chatted w/ was OK. he gladly spoke about the car and well over mid-fifities said he liked the color, although like us, he'd choose the black mica instead. can you elaborate what you mean about "this front plate drill hole thing" ? Sorry, i didn't get to read all of the threads this w/e.

I think he means them drilling two holes in the front bumper to hold the front plate on when you pick up the car.
When I got my P5 from Irvine they had already installed a front bumper license plate cover and had drilled two nice holes in the front bumper.
:(

Oh. that's a done deal on all new protege's. the only thing left to do is get the holes filled, unless, like me i just put blackheaded bolts in the holes should i ever be asked to put the front license plate back on by the local constable. Thanks for the clarification, badDSM.

i whent to the dealership this morning and looked at it for about 10 minutes, i really like the orange but i have been in the black one in person and i still like the black a better because it doesn't stand out as much. I was suprised how much better the orange looks in person. Hopefully my black onewill come this week

hey colin and jp,

called up phong just a few minutes ago. he said that they are still waiting but he thinks that it'll still be a week or 2. hopefully before christmas. starting to get a lil irritated. they say 2nd week of december then say another 2 weeks. of course everyone has gone through this already. just annoying...

Louie,
patience is a virtue. Whenever it comes......... it comes. Think of it as a possible new year's resolution. colin, did you sit in a black model? if so, was there black stitching instead of the matching orange. cool thing was seeing the gold flakes in the paint when the sun shined off of the car!

UPDATE: check out this msp on ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1874905360

Interior pictures indicate orange stitching on the steering wheel, NOT BLACK. I know for certain that the orange had same color stitching on nardi s/wheel. Why did they do that? Black car, grey and black interior w/orange stitching (??)

Cuz it's cool. How did you miss this? Every black one I've seen pictures of has been the same way. The only car without the orange seat stitching is the prototype on Mazda's site.

I haven't looked closely enough at the interior of black ones. Or perhaps it's my failing eyesight in my pre-elderly years.... be kind, sonny.

/me checking his watch. *TICK, TOCK, TICK, TOCK*

i have no clue what's going on. last thing i was told was to wait another week or 2. it's been really quite this week. seems that no one has gotten or heard anything about the speeds. and what did u mean when u said that the msp would be "PMS"?

my dad likens this to when I was little and we went on road trips from CT here to Ohio, or Florida or something. Me and my brothers would be sittin in the back "are we there yet? are we there yet? are we there yet? are we there yet?" and after a while my dad would reply "almost! 20 minutes more....." just to shut us up. We could be in CT still with 10 hours more to drive "just 20 more minutes, sit tight...." and we were young and foolish and of course believed every word of it.

September "Are they here yet?" "yep, should be in the next week or 2"
............

i went to irvine mazda tonite to check out the orange speed on the show floor with my mom. when i got there, a guy with his wife and baby were checking it out too. the salesguy said hi and i was like, "yeh i'm just here to check out this mazdaspeed. waiting for the black one and i know this one is sold already", or so i thought. i don't know who said it was but i guess that orange mazdaspeed wasn't sold after all. the guy with the baby thought i was the owner of the car.

as my mom and i were sitting in the car, i overheard the guy saying that he wanted to buy the car right there. they went and sat at a table next to the car and started talking. i was like WTF :wtf: . i thought it was sold already...????

after we were done we walked out towards our car. the salesguy came out and was like, "so were u interested in getting the mazdaspeed? i'll order one for you." i said i was just looking. apparently this stupid salesguy didn't remember me. i came in the week prior to check it out for the first time, and when he came to me at that time i told him i was being helped already by someone in the fleet department and was just checking the car. he's just walked away right after i said that and didn't want to help me AT ALL.

i just thought it was just funny to mention. i don't think i'll ever want to deal with that guy. what i'm wondering is why he came out in such a hurry when he was in the middle of selling the mazdaspeed. maybe the guy changed his mind and didn't want it anymore, or maybe the salesguy lied and it WAS sold. bleh, who cares.

also, my mom seems to like the protege5 more and wants me to get that instead. ;p it's a nice car...prolly my 2nd choice. my mom seems to like the leather interior of the p5 more than the cloth msp and mostly the fact that it was auto. anyway, you can tell i'm bored and just want my car already. maybe i'll just get the p5, m6, or an rsx.

Louie,
Happy Holidays. I personally saw a salesdealer's signed handwritten note in the glove box of the showroom msp that had a sold notice and a date when the buyer would be picking it up. Perhaps, the prospective buyer "backed out." Also, don't fault the salesman who rarely remembers anyone unless you've padded their wallets. Besides, he knows you're already being assisted by the Fleet department and he doesn't want to waste his energy. As far as PMS - ask your mom what that abbreviation normally stands for- and it's not Protege MazdaSpeed! Just noted the coincidence no one's ever brought up.

sup jp,

back at ya. :) hey, do you think there will be any more shipments of mazdaspeeds before the 25th? my gut tells me that it won't be until after january, but who knows? there are so many people that i'm gonna be seeing this christmas and i was hoping to show off my car. looks like it's not gonna happen. :(
guess i'll have to wait till the next family gathering. ack ptuey!@#

Happy Holidays Louie,
Unlikely that irvine will receive any before Christmas. Like you I'd imagine January at the earliest. Still awaiting a black model in person. it was nice to see all those detail pictures posted of the black one selling on e-bay. I look forward to comparing it to my current black P5. I'm thinkin' of playin' it low key when it does finally arrive, rather than showin it off. I need to get to know it and it's apparently complicated stereo 1st. Plus, I don't want to target my car for any would-be thieves or mischievious folk who out of jealousy would damage my newest purchase. Just my opinion. My niece who owns a VWGTI 1.8T would like to compare acceleration and boosts, I'm certain. While her dad (bro-in-l) owns a classic jag and previously a couple impeccable TR6's. And my bro owns a Matrix (yuuuch!)

the matrix was actually the first car i was looking at in the beginning, but it reminded me of my parents' old camary station wagon. how are you liking the p5? that is actually my 2nd choice for a car. im prolly looking at the sports auto if i do.

wonder what happened to colin.

For all we know...colin maybe sequestered somewhere for his rants about wanting the msp... seriously, no clue of his whereabouts. I've PM'd him w/o response as well. I know you're on the other Protege sites. he may have changed his tag.

Matrix = fugly. Too fat and tall.

P5 - excellent car! Handles wonderfully in the turns. I love takin' it out just to hit the hilly canyon roads (Santiago, Trabuco Canyon, etc.). I keeps it shiny and clean (inside/outside), so it's a blast to drive...w/enough power to make it feel faster. I still get compliments from those gals who think its a "porsche" or something. It reminds me of one of my first cars: a black1984 VW GTI - except faster w/ much better handling.

We'll see about when the black msp's are coming... (me with my hands folded on my lap, patiently waiting).
