Thanks for the quick reply. If I'm sure I want the car, I'm going to call my local Mazda dealer to make sure they will do the work before I buy it. I just wondered if anybody else was in the same situation.

I just had mine done. The screw came loose and got sucked into the #3 cylinder. I had no idea my P5 was still under warranty and had a non-dealer diagnose the noise. Once I figured out the car was still under warranty, I had a local dealer make the repair. They supposedly checked the cylinder for damage, but I'm a little skeptical. Also, Mazda is saying they will not re-imburse me for the non-dealer labor because the car was under warranty. I'm not sure how hard I'm going to fight that. Considering I thought I was going to have to pay for the whole engine repair, paying for a few hours of diagnostic labor seems like I dodged a bullet.
