I just wanted to vent on how @#$#@# unreliable my 2002 vw jetta 1.8t is. It all started with the passenger window one day just dropping into the door as if the thread holding the window up had snapped. After that was fixed, a couple of days later the drivers side door wouldn't unlock when I would press the remote. Went back to another dealership to have that fixed. Not even a week later, after that problem was fixed, my car's check engine light came on and I immediately drove it to a dealership. The problem was with the ingnition coil. Great! Just great! My vw has been in the shop more times this month than all of my other cars combined! Luckily I have my p5 which has operated flawlessly so far. If only VWs were still made in germany like the good 'ol days. Anyone else have similar problems with their vdubs? I've owned a couple of vws before and swore I'd never go back until I saw the jetta 1.8t. I never learn.:mad:

dood.. my boss at work.. has the same problem.. his ignition coils fried.. his abs pump is messed up.. all kindsa stuff.. he got sum guy thats pretty high up at vw helpin him fix his problem.. if u want i could put u in touch with him an see if he can help u.. he has a 2002 jetta wagon turbo..lemme kno.

Window regulators and coilpacks are both constant problems for them...the 1.8T is the only motor that is having the coil pack problem, but all VW's have the window regulator prob...just sounds like all your 'stuff' hit the fan at the same time...sucks...I'm assuming that the dealership has been more than helpful, and very accomodating; at least according to what I have heard...You should be more than happy once these known problems are fixed...throw a CAI and a chip in there, and you'll be pushing 205WHP

Its not the mexicans but the german designers...I had a jetta and also ran into problems. broken cup holder, broken center console lid, broken window regulator, broken side mirror adjuster knob, 2 quarts of oil every oil change. crappy car, looks good, but crappy. was glad to trade it in. hehehe.
VW and quality don't mix, sorry, ive seen so many problems with the Jetta's at the dealership i work at you wouldn't even believe, almost all salesmen/saleswomen, mechanics, and managers say the VW's are s*** because they've seen so many problems with them
The last VW I owned was an 83 Scirocco, it had 273,000 miles on it when I sold it and it still ran like the day it came off the lot. I have also owned a 79 square back and a 72 Super Beetle, all were great cars, but they had their quirks. Sadly,I feel now VW is only resting on their laurels. They're too interested in selling Jettas to 43 yr/old Yentas.

Heres the thing I heard about the Vdubbs. They are either really good and reliable or just crappy. It's about 50% either way
