Changed the water pump and timing belt yesterday.
I followed a couple of You-tube video's. The first one said to count the lugs on the belt for spacing (WRONG!). There was a nasty sound after buttoning things up the first time, but only for a fraction of a second and only with the starter turning the engine. Found the second video (PMP Motorsports) which showed the marks on the gears and the crank. Done. Checked four times (turning the crank manually with the tensioning spring on) and the "chopstick" method to confirm TDC. The lines on the gears are on the same plane.
But, now it won't start. The consensus at this forum is that it's a non-interference engine. (I had an Accord timing belt break once and that IS an interference, shop changed the belt, no troubles.)
Battery is charged. I even used some starter fluid. Plugs are pristine (new as of yesterday).
Crank pickup issues? Or maybe the spark plug wires? from the tugging to take them off mult. times.
Thanks in advance, Ross
