Turbo not boosting like it should ?

I have a 2003 Mazdaspeed protege and I am *having problems with boost I have 5psi in 1st the. None in 2nd and 8 in 3rd don't know if thats right this is my first turbo car and what kind of boost should it have all stock some help would be great thanks

It also cuts out from time to time when starts to boost

You will get more response in the MSP section. Pull the vacuum line to the wastegate and blow into it. If any air passes it is bad and needs to be replaced.

I did a smoke test on it at my work and smoke came rolling out should I replace the wastegate ?
