Turbo making odd noises

ok so basically my car has been running funny lately, while driving it feels like i got a nasty boost leak, but the bad part is pretty recently it will make a light high pitched grind while im coasting at the speed limit on the road, when i get on it at all i get very little boost... like as in before i would start spooling at about 3k-3500 and i would take off from the boost, now its like i hit boost and i hear the turbo spool but the car falls flat on its face and kinda hits a dead spot where i would typically hit boost(3-3.5k)

i hope its just a boost leak (building my boost leak tester atm havent had much time) and is messing with the already rich a/f mixture thus flooding out do to the air leak. as for the noise i really am worried to consider the turbo bad or definantly going bad ha =( i noticed some minor shaft play but i did not see any evidence of the turbine destroying itself in the housing...

usually i would tinker around with the car until i figure things out for myself but lately ive been really busy so i have not been able to get out in the garage as much as id like. if anyone can shed some light on this situation i would greatly appreciate it

UPDATE!!!

ok so basically I'm pretty positive I have a boost leak at the hot pipe where it goes to the intercooler bc there is like electrical tape wrapped around it to hold an old torn rubber collar Haha

BUT even if that does fix it is there a place I can send my turbo to be rebuilt? Or where I can buy a replacement? I wasn't to thrilled to see my turbo did have shaft play... :( I know shaft play isn't good obviously but wouldn't a turbo with way to much shaft play that is destroying itself in its housing be pretty blatantly obvious???

forgot to add that in the morning like 1 min after i start the car in the morning i hit boost perfectly like i was before this issue, then soon as im about halfway to work and the car is fully warmed up i just hear a loud woooshing (idk how to spell) sound everytime the turbo would spool up. also when i do boost in the morning when its cold the turbo makes no abnormal noise at all... then it heats up and looses power.

i would check the WG. could be stuck open, which would cause you not to build boost as well. and the fact that it dose it when its warmed up further points me to that.

just recently replaced that with an atp WGA, i checked the WG too and it was solid in the housing and moved freely with the actuator arm off

anyone got an idea of what to check? iif its a bad turbo id like to fix it before something worse happens =/

If u got tape all over ur hotside pipe thats gonna cause allot of issues. Before replaceing ur turbo just buy a samco hotside pipe. I think a bit of shaftplay is ok.

I was going to buy the CS silicone hot/cold piping, but I want to rid myself of the turkey so I'm not sure... Is there a way to get rid of it still if I go that route?

To my understanding the bpv needs a 1" inlet/outlet and a dedicated vacuum line from the BB correct? How can this be done since the stock valve is like 5/8"
