tranny woes

if i just dont know how to drive then tell me, cuz I can accept being an idiot...

sometimes in the past cple weeks when I put it in reverse, -never rolling forwards, usually coming out of neutral and not out of a drive gear- I get a gear grinding noise. I always immediately check to see if the clutch wasnt in all the way but it always is, without moving my foot on the clutch I can then take it out of reverse and put it back in without a problem. Its very discomforting to hear not to mention im sure its not donig wonders for my tranny and could be conceivably related to my next issue....

This has happened several times in the past week. When shifting into 3rd.........i CANT shift into 3rd. It wont go at ALL, like im slamming it into a wall, I try to hold it there for a second to see if it is just slow for some reason but until I go into another gear and pull it out and try 3rd again, 3rd is gone.

Im gonna call the dealership tomm to make an appointment (my clunk is back too) but just wanted ot let you know of my problem im having and see if you guys had any input.

oh btw, I saw on super 2nr tv that SCC tested the STI at 70.1 mph in the slalom.....and the msp beat it with a 71.3 or something? hehe

We'll I'm pretty sure that you have a problem like I had. I'm assuming these cars have a hydrolic clutch, and if so, then either your slave or master cylinder to the clutch went. Sounds like the problem I had in my prelude. Except I let mine go for a long time and eventually it would grind into gear with most of the gears even with the clutch all the way in, and sometimes it wouldnt even let me into gear which happened earlier on. Brought it to the dealership and they hit me up for about $500 but if your under warranty lucky you. Anyway good luck.
