Torque Steer Issue

Hey Guys,

I am fairly new to the MSP scene and I had a question regarding torque steer. When the turbo spools up under heavy boost I am experiencing a very noticeable torque steer and was wondering if there were any braces on the market or any other solutions that might help alleviate the torque steer. I will be installing the reinforced engine mounts from cork sport in the next week or so and was wondering if there was anything else I can do.

Motor mounts will help but being fwd it will never go away. Try it with an open diff more power and 250 lbs lighter

You'll get used to it. IMO, the torque steer is nothing on the MSP as compared to my older F2T running way more boost than my MSP.

Ya my 323 will literally throw me from side to side when the diff switches tires it wants to send power to.

just in case, are you sure its normal torque steer? There used to be a bunch of different braces for 3rd gen's, but most are no longer available new...

But, failed ball joints on the front control arms will very much introduce noticeable walking of the front end...especially if both are in bad shape. they can shift in their cup under heavy acceleration and/or hard cornering. I'm NA, but had a bad driver's side joint that would pull very noticeably on and off throttle when cornering...but held pretty much fine in a straight line.

So its something to check. yeah, an MSP and its torque will cause some torque steer...but if the car is mostly stock the torque steer is barely any different than nearly any new FWD car...even MSP's are relatively under-powered compared to a lot of FWDs. A friend in college had a modified MSP making over 210whp, and torque steer with the stock diff was only marginally more than my NA p5. If its only causing very small adjustments to the wheel to keep straight, you're probably normal...but if its something you are even slightly fighting under acceleration, chances are there are some suspension parts on their way out...

Alright man, thanks for giving me somewhere to start looking. As for it being normal torque steer or not I am unsure as this is the first FWD turbo'd car I have owned but a buddy of mine drove the car while testing it and said I should look around for some sort of brace as he felt that it was more torque steer than it should have. I don't really experience any torque steer coming out of corners, but rather experience a noticeable pull to the left if I accelerate hard getting on the highway.

My 90 hp Honda had torque steer. Every car is different, even my mp3 has a little bit with its whopping 140 hp

Added the stiffer engine mounts from Corksport and it made a world of difference! After installing the mounts I am no longer experiencing any torque steer.

It is definitely still there, but the solid mounts do wonders for wheel hop and shifting.
