Tints

MSP & MS3
So I'm getting tints put on my car Sunday... I'm a little concerned about the integrated antenae in the rear window... can anyone offer any insight on this? I don't want this guy to F$@# it up!! Need my radio man!!! Thanks

No worries, you can pull tint off with a heat gun if you need to. Or in a rush, you can use a few fresh Razor blades, simply cut around your antenna and Defroster, You can use 3M's adhesive remover to clean off what is left. Personally I pay my friend to do it, he has his own Tint shop, he does a good job and he gives me a nice discount.

Check around and go to a shop that will do the rear window in one WHOLE piece. That way, they won't have to have any razor blades anywhere near your antenna or defroster lines. It can be done - mine is! I had a place slice my defroster line before, it sucks. Can only imagine what a cut antenna line would be like.

All in one piece??? the guy said he'd have to "cut around it" whatever that means... guys, I don't want my shi+ getting fu(ked up!! is there only one type of tint? if there are various types, should I go with one in particular? I'll pay more to get it done right with no worries down the road... anywayz, thanks

I'm only replying to this because I thought the title said tits (boobs) and now im dissapointed  Either way, when I had my tint done on my civic I made them do it in one piece on the back window also, they did a awesome job. 1 year later the jerk off cop made me take it off my front 2 windows :( the glue sucks to get off, just use a sharp razor, and then clean it up with some stuff that gets rid of the nasty residue. They can do it in one piece though, there should be no need to do it other ways unless he dosent know what hes doing. Call around, a million places in FL do it.

yeah, I thought you wanted advice on removal.

Do not use a tint shop that cannot do a single piece of tint on your windows. It's gonna look like crap, find a better place.

Don't use a tint shop??? (boobs) [that's for the guy who thought I wrote tits!] though they might not seem to have any correlation... tints on a car can definitely help one get some nice perkys in your face. but that's another story for another night... hmm... or tonight! anyway... :wtf: tint shops are no good? Where should I bring it then??? I don't want to skimp.... but I don't want to get ripped either. Thanks guys

Just call around and find a shop that will do it in one piece, thats all. Shops are good, just not ones that can't do stuff right, like in one piece :)

P.S. Horray for boobies! (boobs)

I may be reading this wrong but...

Aren't they supposed to place the tint on the outside windows first and trace around and cut what needs to be removed and then place the tint on the inside of the car?

Thats how mine was done and he did a very good job but mine isn't a msp.

That's how most shops will do it. Makes it easier to map out the shape of the windows.

no worries on the tint bro. just had mine done last week and they used one sheet for the rear window. the radio reception is the same as it was before tint and i bet the they can do if for you. sure, it was a little bubbly and such, but the sun will work its majic on solving that, especially in FL.....good luck!!

Ok cool... I'll cross my fingers. did any of you get that strip that goes along the top of the front windshield? I hear they try to sell that to you... also, how much did you guys pay? and what % would you recommend for an orange?

I did 15% all the way around on my orange and also got the strip across the top of windshield. You should be able to use the leftover from back windshield as the front strip. I didnt have to pay for it ...but thats because this guy has tinted 3 of my cars and many friends. I wouldnt pay more than $10 for strip though. I did notice the defroster lines are fairly thick and so it will bubble for the first couple of days. Just park in the sun and smooth them out whenever you have a chance.
