This car makes me sad

I'm so used to being somewhere in the middle of the tuner car hiearchy until I got my MS6. Now I'm pretty much at the top and no one will even challenge me. I drive home from work and every Honda, SRT-4, or DSM I come across will roll by without even daring to look my way. I was used to getting a nice challenge every now and then on the open highway (not that I support any type of street racing activity. I miss that since I started driving the MS6 and left the MSP to my wife.

they probably think you're driving a 6i or 6s sedan

yeah, unless you see the rear badge the cars a pretty much identical.

i rev at evos and wrxs that i see just to acknowledge them,

but if a modded civic or integra pulls up ill rev at him too, even though i know my car would beat his.

does ur car have any mods or anything? if u try something cosmetic, like painting the brake calipers, or getting some new shoes, that should seperate it from every other sedan on the road. thats what im going for for my car, seperating it so its noticed, but keeping that sleeper car style.

Maybe some aero trimmings will help set the car apart from the rest of the other Mazda6. I don't want to do anything flashy but Mazda at least could have put a special badge on the car like the Protege MP3 has. I only get comments or looks from people in the know. I guess the tail pipes or wheels are enough of a give away if you know what you are looking at.

The only challenges I get out on the highway are from higher end Euro cars like BMW 3 series, C-Class Mercs, older Audi S4, Lexus IS. The strangest was a AMG CLS55, I think they're about 350hp, I figure power to weight I might be able to take him for a couple gears but I was near my exit.

Needless to say, as much as I enjoy my car I realize I'm not going to get as much attention as when I'm driving the MSP. It's too subtle to get noticed as a "tuned" car. Maybe I should throw on some 22" and put TV's in the headrest and forget about the going fast.

hahahaa cls55 amg...no no no...0-60 in 4.5, 460 hp and 520 tq...would've walked you lol...i used to work at benz detailing...take off traction control and you could burn the rubber thru 1st and 2nd like it was its job...the cls 500 you could probably take, smaller size motor with 300 hp and 340 tq...they both weigh 3800 lbs

i think the whole point of the MS6 is understated performance. i love the fact that my car won't be mistaken for some rocketship sedan and i love blowing the doors off unsuspecting cars. better still, when some a-hole is tailgating me and goes to pass me, i just downshift and leave him in the dust. it's one car i actually enjoy driving slow

I enjoy not getting revs from every riced out Honda / DSM. Not to mention not having them ride my bumper and cut around me to show me their "skills" so I will race them.

Stealthy / Sleeper FTW

I guess it's time for us all to "grow up" and stop driving like idiots. I double checked the CLS specs. OMG that car is rocket! Well at least I can still aspire to owning a great German performance sedan by Merc since new BMW's now look like Hyundias (die Bangle, die!).

All I'm saying is that if maybe Mazda gave us a little show to go with our go, these cars would have sold better. At least the MS3 is getting some attention in the aftermarket and press. Hopefull we'll benefit from little brother, but it's usually the other way around.

Maybe we'll be able to get M'z Tune parts at the dealer soon.

just put some wheels on it...nobody acknowledges a stock car unless it hits low 13 stock and people know it...i have seen stock srt4s and quite honestly, i doesnt produce me any kind of "challenge"...put some wheels on it and its difference.

469hp and 516 lb/ft tq. call me crazy, but this thing does 0-60 in a little over 4.5 sec. i think he can take you pretty easily.

drop the car and get a loud exhaust or cut out or something and a large wing...this should solve the "people dont rev at me anymore" problem your having...

i think "growing up" is a lot cheaper :)

j/k

lol, no your right though. the ms6 wasn't built as a 'race car' or a car to get revs at. mazda made it luxury oriented not ricer oriented. its more of a grown ups sports car my friend says. awesome car to race on the weekend and take the haul to work on the weekdays.

Well I my other choice was the Evo MR. The dealer had a new black one with the black wheels and "sight and sound package". I test drove it twice the week I bought the MS6. I couldn't get the Evo because it's just not a practical car for everyday use especially with a kid on the way. My MSP already doubles as my wife's car plus track duty on the weekends. I know I'm griping about the MS6 being understated but atleast that helps to filter out the challenges from ricers.
