i suspect edmunds must be listing the gross weight. many other sites say 35xx

Yeah, I think you're right. They even mentioned 3500 lbs in their writeup but still display 4288 in the spec sheet (hand)

Mitsubishi has announced pricing for the all-new Eclipse and the savior from Normal will cost $19,399 for the GS 5-speed manual. The four-speed auto GS goes up to $20,299. Add $1,500 to the base car for the Sun & Sound package that adds the 650-watt Rockford Fosgate audio system and power sunroof. The V-6 powered GT will ring in at $23,699 for the manual and $24,599 for the five-speed automatic. You can max the GT out with the Premium Sport Package ($3,270) which adds leather, 18-inch wheels, Auto AC, power drivers seat, heated font seats and heated outside mirrors along with the 650-watt stereo and power sunroof. That puts a loaded GT at about $28,000, right about where it was predicted to be. All prices do not include destination/handling charges. Thanks for the tip.

Youd think for 25k it would come with a/c!

It says "Auto AC" so I think it's referring to automatic climate control, as opposed to manual controls.

Just like the new mustang...you're gonna see one on every block. I hate cars that you see all over the place.

Ohhh! hell and I call myself a car guy. I should have thought of that LOL.

Regardless, 3,547 (according to r&t) lbs for a fwd coupe is ridiculous. $23,699 for the top performer, and it's still fwd. You can get last last year's RS' off the lot for around 26-27. So you're looking at 3-4k more for a lighter car with more hp and awd. Tough decision there. .84 on the skidpad, and that's with 235 rubber.

I can't imagine owning this car for anything other than getting to work and back in.

I was kinda thinking the same thing. I would rather have the 350z, heavy car but better looking and it's been out longer and has more power and RWD!

It gets better. <thanks crossbow="" for="" cutting="" this="" out="" of="" r&t="">
//Thanks crossbow, for copying this from r&t
The eclipse uses MacPherson strut front and multilink rear suspension that, like the outgoing car, is calibrated on the soft side, and for 2006 suspension travel has been increased.

For sure, the new Eclipse is one of the most comfortable sports couples on the market, delivering a remarkably smooth ride, a quiet cockpit and superb front seats.

So is this the second coming of the Eclipse? In a word, no. I'm no physics major, but all that weight distributed 61 percent front/39 percent rear along with front wheel drive, soft springs, too much body roll and all season tires (that start squealing in protest long before they should) do not a sports car make. Understeer is the rule of the day entering low speed corners, while torque steer and wildly spinning inside front tire ( a limited slip differential is not available) make themselves evident on the way out.

I'll pass, thanks.

</thanks>

buy your evo's now, they are gonna be collectors items when mitsu bites it in the near future.

Hell ya,I totally agree,The new eclipse looks gay.It looks like Mitsubishi just took the design of the 2K Eclipse and combined it w/ the design of the older(F&F) version. It looks horrible.I think the best looking Eclipse is the F&F version.

is it just me or does it look an awfull lot like this:
