Tail light question

Hi, I'm a new owner of the mazda5 2013. So far am loving it. I had a question on the tail lights. I just noticed that the inner tail lights do not light up. Please see picture attached. Are these supposed to work or are for decorative purposes only?

Thanks Vasy. Kinda dissapointed with that...would look great if they actually lit up.
Would it be possible for you to share the info on how to go about adding bulbs to the light?
