Stupid Trucks!!

Bad enough when they're hogging the road but I washed my car last week and found a half dozen chips in my bumper and one on the leading edge of my hood! I got the touch up paint yesterday. Interestingly enough, the paint code is 25T. From now on my policy on trucks is BLAST BY EM before they can pelt you with crap!

hell yeah i love the feeling of flyin by abig semi...hehe make me feel good not hearing those tiny rocks bouncing off my hood and head lights!

To help the hood drop by protege5online.comand get the magnetic bra. Looks real good and keeps the chips off the front of the hood. Not a bad deal for $35.

Tell me about it.. My car got hammered on the way to and from FL- especially through those one lane construction zones!!!! It has a million tiny chips on the front bumper, a couple tiny ones on the hood (maybe 2 or 3), one on the windshield pillar and one in the windshield    ......

I was thinking about getting the bumper and hood repainted next year when I move to FL. I want my car perfect again :(

How does this work with bugs? My midnight blue mica P5 looks green from the front whenever I go out on the highway from all the damn bugs splattered across there (not kidding). They don't come off easily on the paint - is it hard to get them out of the bra?

And the hell of it is; no matter how far back you are, rock chips will still happen.

As far as bugs are concerned; the best measure you can take is keeping a good coat of wax on your car, and removing them as quickly as possible. I like to Meguiar's Quik Detail after bug removal. What happens is with some of the bug splatter; if it is given the chance to set up for very long, it (bug acid) will actually eat into the clear coat. Then you have 'real' problems.

The bra is great. It's actually just a big sheet of magnetic material, so it's very sturdy. I wax mine, so bugs and such come off really easily. I also wax my car rather heavily every month. She gets babied a lot.
If you get one, you'll have a lot of people ask you about your CF hood. It really confuses them when they walk up to it, and it looks good. Once they see what it is, they realize it's just a bra, but a lot of people are amazed by it being a magnet.
I'll probably get one for any other car I ever buy. They are great.

well in my case .. i got rocks dropped on my car the size of a quater and i got $1,249 for the damage which is all added to my mod list with seats, harnesses , hood, clear tails, springs, wires, and much more

Now just think about us northerners who occasionally have to drive past a salt truck that's got that spinning thingy on it just whizzing little salt chunks all over the place at the speed of sound! Talk about paint chips!!!

I must say I don't miss that about living in MI. However, since we don't have salt trucks in NC the logic of most drivers seems to be the faster they drive, the faster they get away from the ice/snow/rain. I have been witness to so many people trying to give full gas when stuck on a little hill with ice or snow it's hilarious. They never seem to figure out that your wheels don't catch on anything if you are at WOT on ice/snow. People just don't seem to get it down here.....ever.

I'm seriously considering a front nose mask. I really didnt want to cover up the beautiful orange but now the stone chips just LEAP OUT AT ME EVERYTIME I LOOK AT MY CAR!!!! ARRGGHH!!! Sorry, I am somewhat disturbed by this. The touch up paint just isnt good enough, I can still see the spots. :(

Yeah, back in January, me and a bunch of WRX's, 2.5 RS's, and such got hammered on the backroads of Hill Country here in Texas by rocks, and all kinds of s***. Of course our cruising speeds were over 100 MPH.

Not to jack the thread, but...

I went to school at Michigan Tech waaaaaaay up on Lake Superior. The town (Houghton) is built on a steep hill and they get snow at the rate of 6-8 inches every night. It's hilarious to see the kids coming from the south or from southeast Asia who've never seen snow before try to drive up a hill in the winter. The best I remember was this one kid with a BMW thinking he was all the s*** making a left turn to go up the hill and he turned left and proceeded to slide backwards down the hill at WOT. That made my day.

Is there a MSP-specific bra out yet or will a regular Progete one fit? Anyone know a good place to find one?

re: touch up 25T

IT DOESN'T MATCH!!!

Made me angry, it's too clear, and yellowish, I can see right through it when it's filled the chip up to the right level...
grr

I'm going to agree with Logan on that one. The touch up paint isnt a perfect match. I put two (very thin) coats on and it looks alright. Better than the black marks and it reseals the chip on the metal hood area. I still must curse the truck that did that to me.
