Hey I just bought an MSP on friday and my friends keep wondering why my car is running so hot, it says its at about half way on the gauge and I was just wondering if that was bad or not? Sometimes the fan turns on as well.... If anyone can please help me or just tell me if it's normal that would be great!

Mine stays in the middle on the gauge, not too cool and not too hot, just in the middle. Now if it were leaning more toward the hot side and rising, I'd be worried about your thermostat or water pump.

Oh one more question for you, does your fan turn on when its been running for awhile, ive noticed when i stop somewhere that the fan is running and after a few mins of being in idle it turns off and the car is much quieter. Is that normal?

As metallic said, that is normal. A few things to lower that temp, Redline water wetter has worked wonders for me. A freebie is the rubber weather stripping at the backside. Infront of the windsheild backside of the hood there is a large rubber strip. Just rip it off.

Hmm well today i turned on my car, and just moved it to a different spot in the drive way an with in 5 mins of running it went to half way on the temp. I think something is broken...

That does seem a little quick for warmup, but unless the temp needle is moving higher than the halfway point, I wouldn't be too worried. On a warm day, my temp gauge will move about 1/3 of the way up just from idling for 2 or 3 minutes.

I have not yet changed the oil in it since i just bought it last friday, I will be soon in a few hundred miles. What do you recommend?

It is 100% normal for it to be close to the middle. It is also normal for car to come up to NORMAL temp quickly as long as your t-stat is working like it should.

Since you just picked it up, definitley change the oil and filter, pcv, sparkplugs, air filter and coolant. That way you know all is good. Not saying you have to, just that it would be wise and what I would do on a used car.

Welcome to the MSP world.

+1

Also check water level in radiator and antifreeze level. Antifreeze isn't just for winter, y'know...

BTW, if its hot out and you have the A/C on, the fan will kick off & on a lot at idle.

I wouldn't recommend the Royal Purple oil. Its not worth the money. Roughly $8/qt and noticed absolutely no difference than with Penzoil Platinum or Mobil1. And if the car is completely stock, I'd recommend stock range copper plugs. I've tried just about everything, and copper has been the best for me.
