Splash shield in driver's side rear well destroyed by lowering car

So my car is lowered. Not a bunch. 1.5" from replacing my suspension with the Tokico HP kit a little over a year ago. I figured it was as close as I could get to OEM without paying for the retardedly priced rear shocks.

With enough weight in the back and/or a big enough bump, the driver's side rear tire rubs the plastic splash shield that covers the filler tube to the gas tank.
Mine now has a sizeable hole in it, and I get the playing card in a bike wheel effect when it rubs.

I finally found the part in the parts catalog, and it is Mazdaspeed specific and $93, as opposed to $13 for a regular Protege. WTF?

Anyway, there are a number of part outs on here that probably has it still, but I don't want to replace it just to put another hole in it and have the same annoying sound in a couple months.

Does anyone have a good solution for this problem? I've wondered if I could somehow zip tie back further away from the tire, or create something custom that gives me more clearance. I assume that is why it is Mazdaspeed specific in the first place.

I'll have the tires off again tonight, so I'll take a picture to better explain.

the rear splash shield / fender liner should be the same part as the regular protege. only difference in the rear is the bumper skirt, which has nothing to do with the splash shield / fender liner. you were likely looking at the front fender splash shield.

are you running an aftermarket tire set up? if you are rubbing on that part with a stock wheel-tire, you must have a TONNE of junk in your trunk.

No it is a different part number. I don't know why they would be different other than the MSP is lower from the factory.

With two 200lb guys in the back and four people's luggage in the trunk, it only takes the slightest bump to rub.

Even with nothing at all, a hard enough compression will rub such as coming down a ramp that quickly flattens out.
