Some form of whining, farty noise while moving...

So, I am positive the engine is fine because in neutral, and at all temperatures the engine is smooth. When I'm moving however, in all gears (1-5 manual) it will make a farty, whining noise, distinctly heard from 2000 rpm and higher, I shift normally at 2500 rpm but will make this noise throughout the range. I have checked tire pressure, lug nuts, put in fuel injector cleaner, fuel system cleaner, checked all fluids but it continues! Any ideas? My thought is maybethe timing belt? I don't know if the previous owner changed it, he car has 137,000 kms on it.

you still having this? have you checked the rear wheel bearings?
