Shaking above 50mph

When I got on the highway this morning my P5 started shaking like crazy once I got up to speed. It snowed yesterday and I had a long commute home but I'm almost positive I didn't hit any pot holes. Yet it feels like the front end is out of alignment.

Anyone else have this problem? It goes away slightly when I am turning to the left. The car is less than a week old, I can't imagine it needing an alignment already.

I know the answer...

I see that you're from MA and probably did some messy driving in the snow yesterday, as did I, being from CT.

Check your wheels for any snow around the inside and clean them all out. I drove in the snow yesterday and when I got on the highway felt the vibration after 50mph (depends on how much snow on how many tires), I just knew it was the snow. Pulled over, found snow inside the front right wheel, cleaned it all out, checked all tires, went back on and it's fine now.

That happened to me before this winter and I also freaked out thinking that I screwed something up (especially since it was a day after a trip to a snowy parking lot ebrake jamboree), and it was the loads of snow in the wheels. Then I had so much snow that my car was shaking going 20mph!!

Eh..

Like mention it is mostly likey snow/ice build up or you could have hit a bump or hole and slightly knocked a wheel out. If it is only occuring around that speed range, than that is the case.

You know, that was actually my first thought because a snow drift was up against my car last night when I went to leave work...After I felt it I check the driver's side front wheel where the drift was and didn't see anything...but I haven't walked around and checked the other side yet.

Thanks guys...

I had the same problem the other day. I took the ice scraper and got all the snow and ice buildup out of the rims. Fixed the problem right away.

i'm in mass too, and i had the same problem this morning, even after cleaning the wheels off. i didn't do a real good job though. by time i got to work most of the snow and ice had fallen off and all is well again on mp5 land!!

Had the same problem in detroit, It freaked me out... I pulled over and had to get all that crap out of there, not a fun thing to do when you are wearing a suit.

I guess when I get snow tires next season I will have to pick up a cheap set of steel wheels to avoid this problem. Though I don't like the idea of putting inferior rims on my baby.
