Self locking nutts?

I had heard a while back that FM was going to use self locking nutts on the manifold and downpipe. Did they end up using these?

If so, I'm gunno go out and buy me some. This weekend I'm taking off the downpipe and manifold and am going to re-attach everything. Considering I have two studs without nutts on the end of them and one downpipe stud as well without a nutt to call it's own. (many possibilities for leaks).

If anyone could give me info on this hardware that would be great.

These locking nuts are not the ones with the nylon gel stuff inside. The nuts that Keith told me about have a slight oval pattern inside instead of the typical round circular one.

You can find exhaust lock nuts at one of these places. They don't have them listed on there websites but I have bought them from both places. Just to let you know all they do to make them oval is crush them a little so that the treads are oval, and jam on the stud.

If anyone's looking for the parts used in the FM turbo kit, we'll sell them individually. We're not proud Studs, hoses, nuts, zipties - whatever.

I wouldn't recommend using nylon lock nuts on a turbo manifold. To understand why, open the hood after a brisk drive and grab the manifold...

So, Linux - did you have to type in that edit with one hand?

Something I found out today - the first BEGI kits went out with different threads than the ones we used. We can't supply locking nuts for the manifold-turbo connection because of that. They're a 10x1.25 size, and if you get really stuck trying to find some - go to a Mazda dealer and get some stock manifold nuts for a Miata, any year.
