First, why I repainted it:

Not sure how they got there, but the previous owner said they had parked it under a tree most of the time so I'm guessing it was branch.

I contacted PDR and they said they might be able to get a few but due to the hoods structure it they were doubtful so I did it the old fashioned way.

For the last few years I have been painting bumpers, spoilers and small parts using quality base coats loaded into rattle cans and then finishing them off with a two part clear coat that actually comes in a rattle can with insert that holds the hardener that you pop before you start spraying, its worked well, but it doesn't translate so well to big, broad, flat parts like hoods and roofs due to the small spray pattern and generally quick hardener.

I wanted to go with a slower hardener to get better leveling and less overspray, etc. I have never used a spray gun before but I was happy with the outcome

I used the cheapo HVLP gun from Harbor Freight and went with the mid level base coat and clear coat from my local Sherwin Willams automotve location.

Only issue I had was on the last pass with the gun I dropped the air hose on the front corner of the hood, the clear got messed up but smoothed out some what on its own, there is a sag there now, but I think I might be able to sand it out.
You can see it above the were the passenger headlamp would be:

After SEMA this year I will be attempting to paint my freind's RSX, hopefully it comes out like the hood did!

if u want it to come out like the hood did just drop the air hose on it again lol but setiously looks good u should come to florida and paint my car
