Radiator Options

Don't cheap out on a radiator. It's one of those things that can and will leave you stranded at the least convenient time. That being said, you're on the right track with an aluminum radiator. They last much much much longer. I'd go with a Mishimoto as recommended or a Ron Davis. I don't know if Koyo makes an aluminum one for the Protege, but thats what I run in all the Subarus.

I have a leaky plastic tank on my radiator. I wanna upgrade since i have to replace it anyways, anyone try one of the aluminum radiators that are all over Ebay? if so how long have you had it,and have you had any problems with it.I really dont want to go with another lifetime "warranty" plastic tank POS that WILL fail again. Thanks

I bought one from autopartswarehouse.com, the Mishimoto all aluminum radiators are pretty expensive. The one I bought was under $150 if I recall. It's plastic top just like the OEM one and hasn't given me any problems.

Check out rockauto.com too for replacement radiators.

I got the cheapie from ebay.

3 years now between the FSDE engine, FSDE engine sprayed, KLDE v6 swapped stock, KL sprayed, and KL boosted - not once have I had an issue with my aluminum "no name" radiator. Temps are just fine, even on boost.

Perfect,I was hopeing someone would chime in tha had one of those radiators for a few years. Thanks for the advice guys!

Keep in mind that aluminum radiators can't be easily rodded out like a factory radiator if they get clogged up, so regular maintenance and flushing to remove any sediment is necessary to make them last.
