2008 mazda5
Hey everyone, Im a new member here. I have a 2008 Mazda5 that me and my wife love. Recently we have started noticing that the seat belt light will flash even though the seat belts are fastened. It flashes once, then again, then three times in a row. Has anyone else had this issue or know how to fix it?

thanks,
Matt

Are you sure it's your seatbelt light flashing and not your airbag light? My guess is that the onboard diagnostic is sensing a problem. If you have a code reader you may be able to pull the code - other wise I'd suggest you take it to the dealer - could be possible safety problem with your restraint system.

Take a picture of the light and post it if you don't have a manual to determine exactly which one it is.

The number of flashes are a code to let you know which restraint component is at fault. I don't know personally what each of the sequences are but I know a few here know or have access to them. Sounds by your description that you have a 1-1-3 code sequence.

My manual (2006) says that the airbag light will be flashing the code, not the seatbelt light, that is why I asked the original poster about which light was flashing. Since he/she hasn't posted back they must have fixed the issue?
